RESUMO:O objetivo do presente trabalho foi investigar aspectos etnoecológicos e etnobotânicos da carnaúba (Copernicia prunifera (Miller) H. E. Moore, Arecaceae) em uma comunidade extrativista do município de Ipanguaçu, estado do Rio Grande do Norte. Foram entrevistados moradores considerados informantes-chaves, utilizando a técnica da indução não específica, turnê guiada e observação direta para confirmar as informações obtidas. Segundo a maioria dos moradores do Assentamento Pedro Ezequiel de Araújo, o carnaubal da região é uma formação vegetal natural. Na investigação etnoecológica, 73% dos informantes relataram a ocorrência de "um tipo diferente de carnaúba", conhecida como "carnaúba branca", fenotipicamente distinta da "carnaúba comum" por apresentar estipe claro, frutos menores e ausência de espinhos no pecíolo, além de ser rara no local de estudo. Grande parte dos informantes observam os processos fenológicos da carnaúba, sendo condizentes ao afirmar que a espécie possui dispersão quiropterocórica. Na etnobotânica, o pó cerífero foi citado por todos como o produto mais importante extraído da carnaúba e a folha a parte mais usada, seguida dos frutos, caule e raiz. Foram relatadas ainda as divisões de trabalho na extração do pó da carnaúba. Os resultados desta pesquisa irão contribuir para difundir os conhecimentos etnobotânicos e etnoecológicos da carnaúba, subsidiando estratégias de manejo e conservação das populações naturais. ETHNOECOLOGY AND ETHNOBOTANY OF THE PALM CARNAUBA WAX IN BRAZILIAN SEMI-ARIDABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to investigate aspects of ethnoecological and ethnobotanical of carnauba wax (Copernicia prunifera (Miller) H. E. Moore, Arecaceae) in an extractive community of municipality of Ipanguaçu, Rio Grande do Norte state. We interviewed key informants, using the technique of inducing nonspecific, guided tour and direct observation to confirm the data. According to most residents of Pedro Ezequiel Araújo community, the area of carnauba wax in the region is natural. In the research ethnoecological, 73% of informants reported the occurrence of "a different kind of carnauba", known as "white carnauba" phenotypically distinct from the "common carnauba wax" by presenting clear stipe, smaller fruits and absence of spines on the petiole, and is rare at the study site. Much of the informants observed phenological phases of carnauba wax, being consistent in stating that the species has fruits dispersed by bats. In ethnobotany, powder wax was cited by all as the most important product extracted from leaves of carnauba and the most used, followed by fruit, stem and root. Were still reported the division of work in the extraction of powder wax from the carnauba. The results of this research will contribute to knowledge of ethnobotanical and ethnoecological carnauba, supporting strategies for management and conservation of natural populations.

FENOLOGIA DA Copernicia prunifera (ARECACEAE) EM UMA ÁREA DE CAATINGA DO RIO GRANDE DO NORTE RESUMO: O objetivo do presente trabalho foi avaliar a fenologia vegetativa e reprodutiva da Copernicia prunifera (carnaúba) em população natural, correlacionando-a com as variáveis climáticas. O estudo foi realizado em uma área nativa, localizada no Campus da Unidade Acadêmica Especializada em Ciências Agrárias da UFRN, no município de Macaíba, RN. As avaliações foram feitas entre maio de 2010 e dezembro de 2012, totalizando 67 observações quinzenais das fenofases vegetativas e reprodutivas. As relações entre a ocorrência de cada fenofase e as variáveis climáticas (temperatura do ar, precipitação, umidade relativa, velocidade do vento e radiação) foram testadas por meio da correlação de Spearman, realizada com os dados climáticos da primeira (r S1 ), segunda (r S2 ), terceira (r S3 ) e quarta (r S4 ) quinzena anteriores ao evento fenológico. Os indivíduos de C. prunifera têm os eventos vegetativos assincrônicos, com perda de folhas e emissão de folhas novas durante todo o tempo. A floração é subanual, ou seja, ocorre mais de uma vez ao ano. Há relação positiva entre a intensidade de frutos imaturos e o período de maior temperatura, com atraso de três (r S3 = 0,261; P < 0,005) a quatro quinzenas (r S4 = 0,276; P < 0,005) do evento fenológico. Foram observadas também correlações positivas e significativas entre a temperatura e a intensidade e número de árvores com frutos maduros. Adicionalmente, a intensidade de dispersão dos frutos maduros ocorre em períodos de menor umidade relativa do ar (r S4 = -0,299; P < 0,005). Assim, supõe-se que a espécie estudada foi influenciada por aspectos da morfologia e fisiologia, com os fatores ambientais interferindo secundariamente. RESUMOO objetivo desse estudo foi selecionar primers ISSR (Inter Simple Sequence Repeat) para estudos da estrutura genética, assim como quantificar a variabilidade genética de uma população natural da C. prunifera. (UBC 841). O número ótimo de locos para se estimar confiavelmente a diversidade genética para esse trabalho foi de 76 locos. Foi encontrada alta diversidade genética, com o número de alelos observados (na = 2,00), alelos efetivos (ne = 1,46), índice de diversidade de Nei (He = 0,28) e índice de Shannon (Ho = 0,44). O valor da coancestria se manteve dentro do intervalo de confiança (P > 0,05), indicando ausência de estrutura genética espacial. Os marcadores ISSR se mostraram eficientes na caracterização genotípica dos indivíduos de carnaúba, servindo como subsídio para planos de manejo e conservação da espécie.Palavras-chave: Arecaceae, carnaúba, nordeste do Brasil, variação genética Genetic diversity of Copernicia prunifera using ISSR molecular markers ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to select primers ISSR (Inter Simple Sequence Repeat) for studies of the genetic structure, and to quantify the genetic variability in a natural population of C. prunifera. Thirty seven individuals were sampled in the municipality Macaíba, Rio Grande do Norte, Northeast Brazil. Seventeen ISSR primers were tested, of which 12 amplified DNA and of these, seven were selected to characterize the structure and genetic diversity of the population. The primers that had the highest percentage of polymorphic loci were UBC 841 (16.36%), UBC 842 (15.45%), UBC 857 (12.73%), UBC 859 (10.90%), UBC 840 (10.90%), UBC 813 (10%) and UBC 827 (8.18%), totaling 93 of the 110 loci generated. The polymorphic information content (PIC) of each selected primer ranged from 0.057 (UBC 859) and 0.444 (UBC 841). The optimal number of loci to reliably estimate the genetic diversity for this work was 76 loci, ie, when the correlation reached 0.998 and the stress was less than 0.05. High genetic diversity was found, with the number of observed alleles (na = 2.00), effective alleles (ne = 1.46), Nei's diversity index (He = 0.28) and Shannon index (Ho = 0.44). The value of the coancestry remained within the confidence interval (P > 0.05), indicating no spatial genetic structure, regardless of the distance between plants. ISSR markers were efficient in genetic characterization of individuals' carnauba serving with allowance for management and conservation of the species.

ResumoO presente trabalho teve como objetivo descrever a fenologia de uma população natural de Elaeis guineensis (dendezeiro), localizada na Unidade Acadêmica Especializada em Ciências Agrárias da UFRN, em Macaíba -RN, avaliando-se as fenofases reprodutivas e vegetativas das plantas e o comportamento das variáveis climáticas nestas fenofases. Foram registradas quinzenalmente, de outubro de 2012 a março de 2014, as características fenológicas referentes a enfolhamento, desfolhamento, antese e frutificação, avaliadas por meio do índice de atividade e intensidade de Fournier. A relação entre as variáveis climáticas e as fenofases foi realizada por meio da correlação de Spearman. Elaeis guineensis não apresentou emissões de botões e flores no período avaliado. A perda e a emissão de folhas ocorreram durante todo o tempo. A atividade de frutos imaturos apresentou correlação significativa e positiva com a temperatura (r s = 0,336; P= 0,03). A intensidade e a atividade dos frutos maduros apresentaram, respectivamente, correlação positiva e significativa tanto com a umidade (r s = 0,455; P= 0,004 e r s = 0,416; P= 0,009) quanto com a precipitação (r s = 0,614; P = 0,00004 e r s = 0,578; P= 0,0001), indicando que quanto maior umidade e precipitação, maior é a produção de frutos maduros. AbstractThis study aimed to describe the phenology of a natural population of Elaeis guineensis (oil palm), located on the Academic Unit Specialized in Agricultural Sciences UFRN in Macaíba, RN state, evaluating reproductive and vegetative phenological phases of plants and the climate. Phenological characteristics concerning leafiness, defoliation, blooming and fruiting, evaluated using the activity index and intensity of Fournier recorded biweekly from October 2012 to March 2014. The relationship between climate and the phenological phases was performed by Spearman correlation. Elaeis guineensis showed no emission of buds and flowers. The loss and leaf emergence occurred during the whole time. The activity of immature fruits showed significant positive correlation with temperature (r s = 0.336, P = 0.03). The intensity and activity of mature fruits showed, respectively, a significant positive correlation with both humidity (r s = 0.455, P = 0.004 and r s = 0.416, P = 0.009) and with rainfall (r s = 0.614, P = 0.00004 and r s = 0.578, P = 0.0001), indicating that the higher humidity and precipitation, the greater the production of the ripe fruit is.

Resumo: Estudos fitossociológicos em remanescentes florestais são de suma importância para caracterização da estrutura horizontal de comunidades florestais, pois gera dados que servem tanto de base para projetos de manejo florestal quanto para recuperação da biodiversidade. Nesse sentido, objetivou-se analisar a fitossociologia da vegetação, caracterizando a estrutura horizontal de um fragmento de Floresta Ombrófila Densa no Município de Macaíba-RN. Para a coleta de dados do componente arbóreo, utilizou-se a metodologia de pontos quadrantes, alocando cinco transectos espaçados de 15 m, perfazendo 175 pontos quadrantes ao longo das trilhas com distância de 8 m entre pontos. Na amostragem foram incluídos todos os indivíduos com diâmetro à altura do peito (DAP) ≥10 cm e altura mínima de 1,0 m. A densidade estimada do fragmento foi de 1.873 indivíduos ha -1 , com área basal de 22,11 m² ha -1 , índice de diversidade de Shannon de 3,19 nats.ind -1 e índice de equabilidade de Pielou de 0,79. A maior proporção de indivíduos se distribuiu entre os intervalos de 3,18 a 8,19 cm de diâmetro e 3,79 a 5,79 m de altura. Com base nos dados analisados do inventário florístico, a área estudada se caracteriza como Floresta Ombrófila Densa, em estágio médio de regeneração, tendo Copaifera cearenses como a espécie que apresentou maior valor de importância no fragmento.Palavras-chave: Estrutura horizontal. The aim therefore, was to analyse the phytosociology of the vegetation, and characterise the horizontal structure, of a fragment of Dense Ombrophilous Forest in the municipality of Macaíba in the State of Rio Grande do Norte (RN), Brazil. To collect data on the arboreal component, the pointquarter method was used, allocating five transects spaced 15 m apart, giving a total of 175 quarter points along the tracks, with a distance of 8 m between points. The Caatinga biome is one of the largest areas of the South American seasonally dry tropical forest that has been severely affected by unsustainable natural resource use. Furthermore, the biome has been identified as an ecologically sensitive region that is particularly susceptible to climate changes. One of the most economically important native palm tree for traditional communities from the semi-arid Caatinga is the carnauba palm, Copernicia prunifera, which offers diverse natural resources, yet its natural populations suffer intense exploitation. To inform conservation and population management strategies, we sought to determine if remaining natural populations of this species in an intensively exploited area in Northeast Brazil displayed evidence of negative genetic impacts because of exploitation and how this might interact with expected environmental changes. Mantel's test revealed a positive and significant correlation between geographic and genetic distances, suggesting natural populations are structured by isolation by distance, while also experiencing genetic barriers as identified through Monmonier's algorithm. The studied populations showed evidence of genetic bottlenecks, while future climate scenarios suggest that potentially suitable habitats for C. prunifera within its native range will be reduced. Significant genetic differentiation among populations resulted in three distinct genetic groups which are consistent with ecological niche modelling. In addition to the need for in situ conservation of C. prunifera populations to minimize the loss of important alleles, the creation of germplasm banks for ex situ conservation and strategies for developing planted productive forests are urgently required to maintain natural populations and ensure sustainability resources for traditional communities.

Resumo:Objetivou-se neste estudo descrever as características morfológicas dos frutos e das sementes da palmeira Copernicia prunifera em uma população natural, no município de Apodi, Rio Grande do Norte. Foram aferidos o comprimento, o diâmetro e a massa fresca dos frutos e das sementes de 12 indivíduos adultos. Os dados biométricos foram analisados por meio de estatísticas univariadas e os desvios da normalidade dos dados foram confirmados pelo teste de Lilliefors (para K amostras), para uso da correlação não paramétrica de Spearman (r s ). As similaridades das variáveis biométricas entre indivíduos foram observadas em dendrogramas, por meio da matriz de distância euclidiana simples. Em relação à assimetria, ocorreu distribuição à esquerda no comprimento dos frutos e das sementes, apontando maior quantidade de frutos e sementes com menor comprimento. O diâmetro dos frutos e a massa fresca das sementes evidenciaram pouca amplitude na distribuição dos dados (K > 3). De acordo com os dendrogramas de similaridade, observou-se que os indivíduos 4 e 10 apresentaram maior similaridade entre as variáveis biométricas dos frutos. Já os indivíduos 4 e 9 foram os mais similares em relação às variáveis biométricas das sementes. Quanto às correlações entre as variáveis biométricas, detectaram-se poucas correlações significativas, exceto entre o diâmetro e a massa fresca das sementes (r s = 0,7993; P < 0,05). Os resultados obtidos neste estudo são relevantes, pois servirão como base para futuros trabalhos envolvendo melhoramento, propagação e conservação genética da espécie.Palavras-chave: carnaúba; semiárido; caatinga; espécie florestal. Biometric characteristics of the fruits and seeds of the palm Copernicia prunifera (Arecaceae)Abstract: The objective of this study was to describe the morphological characteristics of the fruits and seeds of the palm Copernicia prunifera in a natural population in Apodi municipality, RN, Brazil. The length, the diameter and the fresh mass of the fruits and seeds of 12 adult individuals were measured. Biometric data were analyzed through univariate statistics, and deviations from the normal range of data were confirmed by the Lilliefors test (for K samples), for use of non-parametric Spearman correlation (r s ). The similarities of biometric variables between individuals were observed in dendrograms, through the simple Euclidean distance matrix. In relation to the asymmetry, asymmetrical distribution was seen in the left of the fruits and seeds length, pointing higher amount of fruits and seeds with less length. The diameter of the fruits and the fresh mass of the seeds showed little amplitude in the distribution of data (K > 3). According to the similarity dendrograms, it was observed that the individuals 4 and 10 had more similarity between the biometric variables of fruits. A introdução de espécies arbóreas exóticas invasoras é uma ameaça aos ecossistemas naturais. Neste sentido, o presente estudo teve por objetivo avaliar a dinâmica e o crescimento das espécies arbóreas nativas em razão da coexistência com L. lucidum, em fragmento urbano de Floresta Ombrófila Mista Aluvial (FOMA), no município de Guarapuava, Paraná, Brasil. Para isso, foi avaliada a dinâmica dos indivíduos arbóreos entre os anos de 2013 e 2018. Em relação à florística, nas duas avaliações foram registradas 14 famílias, 15 gêneros e 15 espécies, com 727 indivíduos em 2013 e 634 indivíduos em 2018. As taxas de ingresso e mortalidade foram de 6,74% e 19,53%. O Incremento Periódico (IP) foi de 8,90 cm, sendo as espécies que apresentaram maiores incrementos: Gymnanthes klotzschiana (4,13 cm) e L. lucidum (3,93 cm). O Incremento Periódico Anual (IPA) foi de 1,75 cm. Avaliando a probabilidade de transição diamétrica, considerando todos os indivíduos das espécies avaliadas, a taxa de probabilidade de permanência dos indivíduos na classe de menor DAP (5 cm) foi de 60%, sendo a probabilidade destes indivíduos migrarem para a próxima classe de 20%. Quanto aos indivíduos de L. lucidum, foi verificada que a transição dos indivíduos não ocorre nas classes superiores a 35 cm, onde a taxa de mortalidade é zero. A espécie L. lucidum apresenta elevada presença no ambiente, indicando o poder de adaptação da espécie exótica invasora neste fragmento de FOMA.
