Wahrend die Erscheinungen bei der Einatmung von Stickoxydul besonders durch Arbeiten von H e r m a n n a und von G o l d s t e i n 3 gut bekannt sind, fehlen genauere Iienntnisse uber die Art und Weise, wie diese Erscheinungen i n Organismus zustande kommen; so llf3t sich auch die nachstliegende Fragt? nach der Aufnahme des Gases im Blute noch nicht mit geniigender Sicherheit beantworten. H e r m a n n ' gibt an, dat3 nach einer approximativen Methode im Blute die gleiche Menge aufgenommen werde, wie im Wasser. Goldstein erwiihnt, daf3 Tony B l a n c h e zu ahnlichen Ergebnissen gekommen sei, halt aber selbst dessen eudiometrische Analysen fur unsicher. Anch Ju rgensen fand unter Leitung von Nawrocki Stickoxydulmengen im Blute, die annahernd mit den nach dem Bunsenschen Absorptiocskoeffizienten berechneten Werten ubereinstimmten. Die angewandten Untersuchungsmethoden gewahrten keine geniigende Genauigkeit, weil die Analyse des Stickoxyduls bis jetzt immer nnsicher war. Die von B u n s e n ' angegebene, auch von Goldstein angewandte, absorptiometrische Methode zur Bestimmung der prozentischen Menge von N,O in einer Mischung hat sich im allgemeinen Der Redaktion am 26. Schon seit den Versuchen von J u r i n e , Allen und P e p y s (1808) und vor allem F O~ K a r l V i e r o r d t 2 ist es bekannt, daB der Kohlensauregehalt verschiedener Portionen der Exspirationsluft, also auch der der Luft in den verschiedenen Teilen des Lungenhohlraumes verschieden ist; er ist in den feineren Bronchien und Alveolen gr6Ber als in den oberen Luftwegen. Das riihrt daher, daB nicht alle Inspirationsluft sich mit der Luft in den Lungen mischt, sondern eiu Teil von ihr ungemischt in deli oberen Luftwegen zuruckbleibt und mit der Exspiration mieder ausgeatniet wird.
