El artículo tiene por objetivo comprender el fenómeno del techo de cristal (TC) desde las percepciones y experiencias de las profesoras-investigadoras universitarias, respecto del acceso de las mujeres a los cargos directivos de la universidad. Considerando un enfoque de investigación cualitativo y el método de estudio de caso único, se analiza dicha problemática en una universidad en México a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas realizadas a 20 mujeres con experiencia en puestos directivos universitarios. Las entrevistadas reconocen algunas barreras que configuran el techo de cristal en la universidad estudiada, pero valoran positivamente el histórico impacto de la única mujer que ha ocupado el cargo de rectora en la institución, como una líder que se convierte en un factor relevante para avanzar en la igualdad de género en la organización. Se identifican algunas propuestas de estructuras, políticas y acciones institucionales que pueden contribuir a la eliminación más efectiva de las barreras u obstáculos que configuran el techo de cristal en las instituciones universitarias.
El artículo analiza la responsabilidad social corporativa como estrategia para que la gestión pública pueda hacer frente más eficientemente a los nuevos desafíos que la globalización y la modernización del estado plantean a los servicios públicos en los distintos territorios en los cuales se gestionan programas y políticas públicas a nivel mundial. Se identifican elementos que permitan a las instituciones de la administración del estado establecer procesos de interacción más eficientes con el entorno y los distintos stakeholders con los cuales una organización estatal debe relacionarse habitualmente. Frente a este escenario, la responsabilidad social corporativa proporciona una interesante oportunidad para que las instituciones del estado puedan gestionar óptima y éticamente sus relaciones tanto con el entorno interno como con el externo, otorgando una mayor importancia a los impactos que tienen las decisiones y acciones que implementan sobre los ciudadanos, por medio de una relación más transparente y consciente de los intereses de la sociedad civil en general en el desarrollo de su misión.
