O trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar os efeitos do pré-resfriamento e aplicação pós-colheita de cálcio e fungicida sobre a qualidade de maçãs cvs. 'Golden Delicious' e 'Fuji', armazenadas em atmosfera normal e atmosfera controlada. Os 18 tratamentos originaram-se da combinação dos fatores: pré-resfriamento com três níveis (sem pré-resfriamento, com pré-resfriamento até IVC e com pré-resfriamento até 4,5°C); dois níveis de cálcio (sem cálcio e com cálcio) e três níveis de fungicida (sem fungicida, fungicida durante o pré-resfriamento e fungicida após o pré-resfriamento). Como fonte de cálcio usou-se o CaCl2 a 2%. O fungicida utilizado foi o Iprodione (150g.i.a/100l. de água). Após aplicação dos tratamentos, os frutos foram armazenados em câmaras frigoríficas a temperatura de 1°C para a atmosfera normal. Nas câmaras de atmosfera controlada a 'Golden Delicious' foi armazenada em 4% de CO2, e 1,5% de O2 e temperatura de 1°C. A 'Fuji' foi armazenada nas concentrações de 0,4% de CO2 e 2,5% de O2 e temperatura de 2°C. Os experimentos em Atmosfera Normal foram avaliados após cinco e seis meses de armazenamento para as cvs. 'Golden Delicious' e 'Fuji', respectivamente. Em atmosfera controlada as avaliações foram realizadas após oito meses de armazenamento. As duas formas de pré-resfriamento diminuíram a perda de peso e o murchamento de maçãs em relação aos frutos não pré-resfriados. O pré-resfriamento até 4,5°C proporcionou maior incidência de podridões e rachaduras de frutos comparando ao pré-resfriamento até 10°C e testemunha. O uso do CaCl2, diminui a podridão em frutos com ferimentos provocados. Os melhores resultados para controle de podridões foram obtidos com aplicação de fungicida durante o pré-resfriamento, porém, causou murchamento dos frutos, principalmente, no pré-resfriamento até 4,5°C.
