Because of the lack of upstream grid support and low inertia, independent microgrids are very susceptible to load variations and uncertainty in the generation of renewable energy sources. Disruption of microgrid frequency stability causes severe damage to various system equipment and frequency-sensitive loads. By taking into account the effects of electric vehicles (EVs), this paper introduces an innovative control strategy with a master-slave configuration for frequency control of interconnected microgrids. In the proposed configuration, an integer-order controller serves as the master, while a merely fractional-order integrator acts as the slave controller. The master and slave controllers are concurrently optimized by the JAYA intelligent algorithm to achieve robust effectiveness. Additionally, nonlinearities in the system are implemented, such as diesel generator operating limits, signal controllers, and sending/receiving time delays. To assess the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy in a two-area microgrid, six basic scenarios are investigated: sudden load changes, perturbations at the inputs of renewable energy-based units, parametric uncertainties, time-delay effects as a nonlinear factor, complicated working conditions, and EVs impacts. Moreover, the controller’s performance on a simple closed-loop system has been carried out in order to confirm the viability of its practical implementation, and a comparison of experimental and simulation findings has also been provided. Studies demonstrate the proposed controller’s robustness as well as its fast-response capability. Besides, this controller features a simple structure that allows extra design flexibility.
BACKGROUND: The healthy diet is important to maintain immunity against infection. This study aimed to assess and compare the consumption of functional foods, some antioxidants, and dietary inflammatory index between Iranian COVID-19 patients and healthy persons. METHODS: This case-control study was conducted between 1000 (500 cases and 500 controls) adults aged 18–65years in Iran, that were sampling based on the snowball method and their information was collected electronically. The dietary intake was assessed using the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). RESULTS: There was a significant difference (p = 0.044) in vitamin D consumption between healthy people and COVID-19 patients. Vitamin E intake in healthy participants was significantly (p = 0.041) more than COVID-19 patients. There was a significant difference in Zinc (p = 0.011), selenium (p = 0.021), and vitamin C (p = 0.023) between healthy persons and COVID-19 patients. Healthy participants’ consumption of onion (56.5±7.82 g/day), garlic (4.32±0.01 g/day) and oat (6.32±0.71 g/day) was significantly (p≤0.05) more than COVID-19 patients. With the increase of each unit in the score of the dietary inflammatory index, the risk of COVID-19 incidence increased 1.63 times (OR = 1.63 95% CI: 1.54–1.72). There was an inverse association between the consumption of antioxidants and functional foods with the risk of COVID-19 incidence in the study population (p≤0.05). CONCLUSION: Healthy people consumption of antioxidants and functional foods was more than COVID-19 patients and there was a significant inverse association between the risk of COVID- 19 incidence with the consumption of functional foods and antioxidants. Increasing the dietary inflammatory index score increased the risk of COVID- 19 incidence. There is a need for further clinical trials to confirm the effect of consuming functional foods and antioxidants on the prevention or treatment of COVID-19.
Background and Objectives: The Mediterranean diet’s bioactive components are suggested to strengthen the immune system and to exert anti-inflammatory actions. This study investigated the association between adherence to the Mediterranean diet with serum inflammatory factors, total antioxidant capacity, appetite, and symptoms of COVID-19 patients. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 600 Iranian COVID-19 patients selected by a simple random method. The ten-item Mediterranean diet adherence questionnaire was used to assess diet adherence. At the beginning of the study, 5 cc of blood was taken from all patients for measurement of serum interleukin 1β) IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), malondialdehyde (MDA), high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and total antioxidant capacity (TAC). A human ELISA kit with serial number 950.090.096 produced by the Diaclone Company was used to test this cytokine using the sandwich ELISA method. Results: One hundred and five patients presented a high adherence and 495 patients presented a low adherence to the Mediterranean diet. The incidence of fever, cough, diarrhea, taste changes, and pneumonia severity index were significantly lower in patients who adhered to the Mediterranean diet more than other patients. Serum levels of tumor necrosis factor (5.7 ± 2.1 vs. 6.9 ± 2.8 p = 0.02), interleukin 1 beta (3.2 ± 0.02 vs. 4.9 ± 0.01 p = 0.02), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (17.08 ± 4.2 vs. 19.8 ± 2.5 p = 0.03), and malondialdehyde (5.7 ± 0.2 vs. 6.2 ± 0.3 p = 0.02) were significantly lower in patients who adhered more to the Mediterranean diet than other patients. Conclusion: The Mediterranean diet can improve the symptoms and elevated serum inflammatory factors in COVID-19 patients, so clinical trial studies are suggested to confirm this effect.
The aim of the study is the assessment of the food security status and its association with some risk factors of chronic obesity-related diseases in Ardabil-Iran population. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was done between 500 adults of Ardabil that were selected by random sampling from Persian cohort study participants, in January 2019. Food insecurity of study participants was measured using the United States Department of Agriculture 18-item questionnaire. Some risk factors of chronic diseases including fasting blood glucose, lipid profile, liver enzymes, and dietary information were measured on the day of the interview. To assess the association between variables the correlation and linear regression tests were used. RESULTS: Forty-eight and six percent of the study participants were food secure and 51.4% were in food insecurity status. There were a significant difference in weight, blood glucose, blood pressure, and serum triglyceride levels between the food security status groups (P < 0.05). The food insecurity score had significant association with participants, weight (p = 0.005,β= 1.66), serum triglycerides (p = 0.022,β= 0.027), body mass index (p = 0.003,β= 0.645) and fasting blood sugar (p = 0.0001,β= 0.664). CONCLUSION: About half of the participants were in food insecurity status. Food insecurity status can be associated with obesity and some risk factors of chronic obesity-related diseases. This problem requires main food policies to reduce food insecurity in the community.
SummaryThis study develops a novel DC‐DC converter with an extremely high voltage conversion ratio that utilizes just one switch, a voltage multiplier circuit (VMC), and a coupled‐inductor. Two diodes and two capacitors comprise the VMC, employed to reach high voltage gain. Consequently, the conduction loss is minimized by using a low voltage rated switch with lower RDS(on). Due to the coupled inductor's leakage inductance, the output diodes' reverse recovery trouble is solved. Moreover, the passive clamp technique stores and recycles leakage energy at the output. The proposed DC‐DC converter features are high conversion ratio, low maximum voltage on semiconductors, remarkable efficiency, the existence of only one active low voltage switch, and simple circuit topology with common ground between the input and the output. This paper outlines CCM, BCM, and DCM's operating concept and steady‐state analysis in great detail. Furthermore, the suggested structure's capability is indicated by mathematical analysis and comparative findings with other earlier structures. Eventually, experimental findings with 210 W output power and 25 kHz switching frequency demonstrates that the proposed converter can be used successfully.
