El cambio tecnológico ha provocado que las organizaciones requieran trabajadores con mayor calificación para el desarrollo, implementación y adaptación de tecnología en aras de hacer frente a la competitividad internacional. El objetivo de este documento es analizar las transformaciones que se han presentado en los mercados de trabajo regionales en México en materia ocupacional y salarial e identificar en qué medida estas modificaciones pueden ser consecuencia del cambio tecnológico y si este comportamiento es homogéneo a nivel espacial. La fuente principal de información fueron los microdatos de la Encuesta Nacional de Empleo Urbano (eneu) 2000–2004. Los resultados del análisis empírico –que consideró trabajadores en actividades de alta y baja intensidad tecnológica y aplicó una función de ingreso minceriana con diferentes criterios de clasificación: educación, sexo, grupos de edad y regiones– indican que durante el periodo se han presentado modificaciones importantes en el mercado laboral mexicano como consecuencia del cambio tecnológico sesgado, ya que se aporta evidencia estadística que indica la existencia de un mayor premio salarial para los subordinados en el área tecnológica y efectos diferenciados a nivel regional, favoreciendo en mayor medida a la frontera.
El objetivo de este artículo es analizar la desigualdad salarial en el mercado laboral formal e informal en las regiones de México, a partir del grado de exposición a la apertura comercial para el periodo 2005-2016, utilizando datos de la Encuestas Nacional de Ocupación y Empleo (ENOE). El índice de desigualdad de Theil y la metodología propuesta por DiNardo, Fortin y Lemieux (DFL) utilizados. Los resultados revelan que las regiones presentan diferentes niveles de desigualdad, siendo menor en la región de mayor exposición y durante el periodo de estudio la desigualdad se redujo en todas las regiones. La descomposición muestra que las disparidades intra grupo aumentaron. El análisis DFL indica la existencia de diferencias entre formales e informales a favor de los primeros en todas las regiones. El principal aporte del documento es el análisis de la desigualdad salarial considerando una regionalización por el grado de exposición a la apertura comercial y la comparación entre trabajadores formales e informales. Una de las limitaciones del documento es no incluir las observaciones que no registran ingreso y potencialmente puede modificar los resultados.
En el marco teórico de la β-convergencia, este trabajo investiga el proceso de convergencia regional entre los estados mexicanos más y menos expuestos a la globalización. El método aplica mínimos cuadrados ponderados y pruebas anidadas para hacer comparaciones interregionales. Después de controlar por diferencias en el estado estacionario, se encuentra convergencia regional a tasas entre 1.2% y 4.6% durante 1940-2015. En la etapa abierta, la velocidad de convergencia se elevó entre los estados más expuestos a la globalización, pero se frenó entre los menos expuestos. Además, avances en educación y salud han sido determinantes para el crecimiento regional.
