O presente artigo é síntese de uma pesquisa de cunho qualitativo e de caráter experimental em dança que lançou o olhar para a Capoeira Angola, considerando suas possíveis contribuições para o processo de composição coreográfica e de formação do bailarino, tanto no que diz respeito aos aspectos técnicos quanto aos poéticos. O título do presente trabalho refere-se a um trecho de uma cantiga de capoeira “Quebra a cabaça espalha a semente”, e aqui a cabaça é metáfora de ventre e a semente do fruto que nasce a partir do contato com as cantigas, imagens e jogos da Capoeira Angola. A pesquisa de campo se desenvolveu no Projeto Águas de Menino vinculado ao Centro de Capoeira Angola Angoleiro Sim Sinhô (CCAASS). A vivência no projeto se associaram aos estudos sobre processo de criação em dança tencionando a reflexão sobre uma dança que joga com a capoeira marcando uma identificação afro-brasileira
