SUMMARY -The present communication deals with the cytological analysis of plants regenerated in vitro from leaf explants of Cucumis melo L. cv. 'Pusa sharbati'. The regenerants were variously multiplied in vitro prior to studying their ploidy level. Cytological analysis revealed that plants raised through leaf culture were euploid and aneuploid at diploid, tetraploid and octaploid levels. The ploidy level of regenerants increased with increase in the period of shoot culture on shoot multiplication medium. Among regenerants tetraploids were more frequent than octaploids and diploids.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
