As calçadas e passeios devem garantir o deslocamento das pessoas com autonomia, independente das suas limitações, sendo necessário apresentar condições de fluidez, conforto e segurança. As barreiras físicas tendem a diminuir as condições de acessibilidade em calçadas e passeios, ocasionando dificuldade para a realização de deslocamento, principalmente a pessoas com mobilidade reduzida. No município de Abaetetuba, Pará, a problemática da mobilidade urbana relacionada aos logradouros públicos é comum. O presente trabalho buscou levantar informações quanto a percepção dos usuários de passeios públicos e calçadas no centro urbano do município. Por meio de um questionário semiestruturado, entrevistou-se 95 pessoas, com faixa etária variando de 30 a 89 anos. Observou-se uma grande quantidade de pessoas com idade mais avançada, e que necessitam transitar por esses espaços públicos de forma segura. Além disso, 31,5% dos entrevistados relataram sofrer de alguma limitação física e 56% relataram já terem sofrido algum acidente por conta das más condições de calçadas e passeios públicos. O principal problema relatado pelos entrevistados foi a ocorrênca de calçadas irregulares e/ou com buracos, citado por 81% dos entrevistados. O estudo possibilitou um maior entendimento acerca da percepção dos pedestres quanto aos espaços públicos utilizados, além de indicações que podem balizar decisões do poder público nas tomadas de decisão no momento de concepções e reformas de obras públicas, além de estimular a orientação e a fiscalização de obras privadas.
