O estudo trata de comparar textos constitucionais de 194 países quanto aos objetivos de Estado e princípios fundamentais que os organizam, buscando compará-los com os objetivos e princípios da sociedade internacional, permitindo identificar possíveis discrepâncias entre esses a partir da forma de organização dos Estados (unitário ou federação), dos formas de governo (monarquia ou república) e de sistema de governo (parlamentarismo ou presidencialismo). O estudo foi realizado pelos métodos indutivo e comparativo, sendo a pesquisa descritiva, quali-quantitativa, bibliográfica e documental. Concluiu-se que há a adesão (em maior ou menor grau) dos países, em suas constituições, aos objetivos e princípios da sociedade internacional. E que os principais objetivos da sociedade internacional, de manter a paz, promover o desenvolvimento econômico e social e o respeito aos direitos humanos, encontram-se refletidos nas Constituições dos países, independentemente de sua organização política interna.
