El ensayo propone una discusión para comprender la educación como un acto político, desde las nociones sobre la desigualdad social que están implícitas en la primera fase de la obra de Freire. Para ello, se parte de la compresión de lo educativo, lo social y el conflicto en la relación sujeto oprimido-sujeto opresor. Asimismo, se aborda la centralidad que en ello adquieren nociones como lo dialógico versus lo antidialógico, el vínculo entre objetividad y subjetividad, los procesos de concientización y la praxis, es decir, la relación conjunta de la acción y reflexión crítica; todo ello en el marco de la educación liberadora. Una de las premisas del ensayo es que en la obra de Freire no hay mención explícita respecto a lo que actualmente se conoce como el enfoque de la “desigualdad social”, sino que esta se encuentra supuesta en la vasta discusión freireana. Se argumenta que, mediante relaciones antidialógicas, la definición de arbitrarios culturales y la educación bancaria, los sujetos opresores garantizan el mantenimiento de las condiciones materiales y simbólicas de opresión. Es decir, se trata ante todo de desigualdades de saberes, producto de una educación que no permite el proceso de la humanización y la concientización para la liberación de los oprimidos.
Introducción: este artículo aborda la relación entre las tasas brutas de contagio y las tasas netas de fallecimiento por la COVID-19 -variables de estudio-, con indicadores socioeconómicos y de la salud –variables de contraste- en cuatro momentos de observación durante el primer año de la sindemia en Costa Rica. Los objetivos del trabajo fueron a) identificar los momentos de observación a partir de la cantidad de casos acumulados por semana epidemiológica; b) establecer la correlación estadística entre las tasas brutas de contagio y las variables de contraste; c) establecer la correlación estadística entre las tasas netas de fallecimientos y las variables de contraste; d) describir el desarrollo de las tasas de contagio y fallecimiento a nivel cantonal; e) caracterizar socioeconómicamente los cantones con valores muy altos en dichas tasas. Metodología: se desarrolló un estudio con enfoque cuantitativo mediante el método estadístico y la aplicación de pruebas de hipótesis de tipo bivariado, a saber, correlaciones Pearson y Spearman. Resultados: los principales resultados indicaron que el contagio está estrechamente vinculado, mayoritariamente, con factores socioeconómicos -densidad poblacional, índice de desarrollo social (IDS), índice de desarrollo humano (IDH) y tasas de delito contra el patrimonio-, mientras que los fallecimientos se asocian a factores biológicos como las tasas de enfermedades -hipertensión y respiratorias-. Conclusiones: se demuestra la relación existente entre la enfermedad y las desigualdades sociales, es decir, cómo estas últimas se reproducen en el campo de la salud.
La ciudad constituye un conjunto de vínculos, intercambios, edificaciones, espacios públicosy privados, sensaciones, sistemas de producción, conflictos, luchas y acciones en las que tienelugar y se plasma el ejercicio del poder de los diferentes sectores que componen la vida ensociedad.A lo largo de su historia, en la ciudad de San José la configuración del espacio urbano ha estadoatravesada por conflictos económicos, sociopolíticos y culturales, los cuales se han materializadoen una segregación espacial estrechamente vinculada con las demandas de los proyectoseconómicos de cada época y a la exclusión social producida por los mismos.Esta ponencia tiene como objetivo explorar las formas en las cuales se fue configurando lasegregación social y espacial en la ciudad de San José, a través de procesos de diferenciación yexclusión promovidos desde los proyectos de las élites del momento.Para estos fines, se propone indagar en el establecimiento de la exclusión en el espacio urbanoa través de la revisión de la distribución o acumulación de recursos e infraestructura en loscomienzos de la ciudad y en la actualidad.
