This paper presents lossless compression schemes for ECG signals based on neural network predictors and entropy encoders. Decorrelation is achieved by nonlinear prediction in the first stage and encoding of the residues is done by using lossless entropy encoders in the second stage. Different types of lossless encoders, such as Huffman, arithmetic, and runlength encoders, are used. The performances of the proposed neural network predictor-based compression schemes are evaluated using standard distortion and compression efficiency measures. Selected records from MIT-BIH arrhythmia database are used for performance evaluation. The proposed compression schemes are compared with linear predictor-based compression schemes and it is shown that about 11% improvement in compression efficiency can be achieved for neural network predictor-based schemes with the same quality and similar setup. They are also compared with other known ECG compression methods and the experimental results show that superior performances in terms of the distortion parameters of the reconstructed signals can be achieved with the proposed schemes.
Hyperlinks, which connect web pages on the World Wide Web, are rich sources of hidden information. ECommerce Websites, which are created for different purposes from online sales to company promotion, would benefit if they receive more links from other websites as this would lead to increase the traffic to these websites. This paper analyses the structure of e-commerce websites using webometric approach to uncover any hidden information from the hyperlinks. The top 50 retail companies' e-commerce websites each from Asia Pacific and USA are chosen for this study. Our results found a positive relationship between the external inlinks count pointing to a retail company e-commerce website and one of its business measures, sales. But no association has been found between hyperlink metrics and business measure like revenue. However this conclusion does not hold good for all categories of companies. Comparing the web presence, US private retail companies are more visible on the Web than the Asia pacific retailers. Furthermore this study has found that counts of links pointing to a retail websites are positively correlated with the website age. That is older websites in English language received more external inlinks. Such a correlation does not exist for Japan, China and Korean language websites.
In Malaysia, over RM 800 million transactions were processed in one cryptocurrency platform. The central bank of Malaysia has made e-payment one of its top targets to execute a cashless payment system. However, an in-depth analysis of the literature shows a dearth of research focusing on the influencers of cryptocurrency mobile wallet acceptance, especially the intention to use them continuously. Therefore, this study uses the Post-Acceptance Model of IS Continuance to determine the elements influencing the continuance intention of cryptocurrency mobile wallets in Malaysia. This research also investigates the impact of perceived security, effort expectations, and social influence on the intention to continue the usage of cryptocurrency mobile wallets. The empirical evidence from 106 current cryptocurrency respondents shows that: (1) perceived security and satisfaction are significant factors of continuance intention, and (2) performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence are insignificant factors of continuance intention. It reveals perceived security as one of the critical elements in continuance intention in the cryptocurrency field.
