This study relied on the day‐by‐day analysis of bioenergetics and prey size preference in larvae and juveniles of Hemibagrus nemurus selected at random, held in isolation (28.5°C, 12L:12D) and feeding ad libitum on conspecifics [21 fish, 12–46 mm total length (TL), dry mass (DM) of 1–145 mg]. Several traits concur to make young H. nemurus highly cannibalistic: (1) high predation capacities (largest prey = 88% and 70% TL in fish of 8 and >40 mm TL, respectively), (2) opportunistic feeding behaviours with no marked size preference and (3) an unusual combination of high food intake (>100% DM at 1 mg DM) and very high gross conversion efficiency (>0.70). A growth model was constructed from the top performances of fish feeding maximally (16 of 21 fish) and indicated that the risk of cannibalism would be high and permanent except for meal frequencies over five daily meals. Cannibals emerging spontaneously under communal rearing (6 fish L−1, three daily meals) grew more slowly or just at the same rate as predicted by the growth model constructed from siblings selected at random. This indicates that the individuals that become cannibals do not possess higher intrinsic capacities for growth than others.
ABSTRAKPenelitian bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh perubahan lingkungan Segara Anakan terhadap kehidupan sosial ekonomi masyarakat pesisir telah dilakukan pada bulan Mei -Juni 2011. Data yang dikumpulkan pada masyarakat di Desa Ujung Alang dan Klaces, Kecamatan Kampung Laut, Kabupaten Cilacap Provinsi Jawa Tengah dianalisis menggunakan analisis kesejahteraan rumah tangga berdasarkan indeks rumah tangga miskin menurut Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) dan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sepanjang periode tahun 1980 -2011 terjadi pergeseran aktivitas perekonomian masyarakat pesisir dari pemanfaatan sumberdaya perairan ke pemanfaatan sumberdaya daratan (sektor pertanian) seiring dengan bertambahnya wilayah lahan timbul. Pendapatan rata-rata riil sebesar Rp 335.078/kapita/bulan lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan garis kemiskinan untuk wilayah pedesaan di Propinsi Jawa Tengah (Rp. 179.982 /kapita/bulan) yang ditetapkan oleh BPS. Meskipun demikian, pada periode tersebut terjadi penurunan pendapatan sebesar 59%. Pemanfaatan sumber daya di wilayah pesisir mencakup konteks sosial multiple use, berbagai bentuk kepemilikan, dan konflik atas penggunaan sumber daya. Sistem ekologi di daerah pesisir sangat berhubungan erat dengan/dan dipengaruhi oleh satu atau lebih sistem sosial. Pendekatan kontemporer pengelolaan pesisir dan lautan berbasis sosial - ekologi pada dasarnya adalah integrasi antara pemahaman ekologi (ecological understanding) dan nilai – nilai sosial ekonomi (socio-economic value). AbstrakKabupaten Boyolali merupakan salah satu kawasan minapolitan yang ada di Jawa Tengah, yang ditetapkan melalui Keputusan Menteri Kelautan dan Perikanan RI Nomor KEP.32/MEN/2010 tentang Penetapan Kawasan Minapolitan. Berdasarkan keputusan tersebut, pengembangan usaha perikanan khususnya budidaya ikan lele (Clarias Sp) semakin gencar dilakukan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui gambaran pola pengelolaan, permasalahan yang dihadapi, pemasaran hasil produksi, serta memberikan gambaran terhadap struktur biaya, penerimaan, keuntungan dan nilai R/C ratio. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus, dengan pemilihan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, usaha budidaya ikan lele di Desa Tegal Rejo secara keseluruhan masih layak diusahakan karena memiliki nilai R/C ratio > 1. Permasalah usaha yang dihadapi oleh pembudidaya terkait dengan ketersediaan benih, kenaikan harga pakan, harga jual ikan lele dan serangan penyakit. Dalam menjaga keberlanjutan usaha budidaya ikan lele pada kawasan minapolitan ”Kampung Lele” Desa Tegal Rejo, perlu diperhatikan daya dukung lingkungan serta pengelolaan usaha yang baik.Title: CATFISH AQUACULTURE BUSSINESS AT MINAPOLITAN AREA “KAMPUNG LELE” IN THE BOYOLALI DISTRICT Abstract Boyolali is the one of Minapolitan Area in Central Java, which are determined by the Minister of Marine and Fisheries Affairs, through by the minister decision KEP.32/MEN/2010. This study aimed to know the description of management patterns, problems faced, the marketing of production, as well as give an illustrate of the cost structure, revenue, profits and the value of R/C ratio. Case study method were used in this research, sample selected by purposive sampling method. Based on the analysis, the aquaculture bussiness of catfish in Tegal Rejo as a whole is still viable because it has a value of R/C ratio > 1. Business problems faced by farmers related to the availability of seed, feed price increases, prices of catfish and disease attack. In maintaining the sustainability of catfish farming in the region Minapolitan "Kampung Catfish" Tegal Rejo village, keep in mind the carrying capacity of the environment and good business management.
