Refletimos sobre as construções de sentido presentes na obra Black Is King, de Beyoncé, que ativam a ideia de uma África reimaginada e fabulada. Ao apresentar elementos positivos relacionados aos conceitos de negro e de negritude, o filme rompe com imagens de controle ocidentais sobre pessoas racializadas, mostrando-as de outras formas, como nas performances da gravidez e da maternidade presentes na produção. Em narrativa não-linear e pouco comum na chamada cultura mainstream, Black Is King resgata o passado em uma atitude como a do pássaro sankofa, que volta para buscar o que é seu. O filme se desenrola em imagens, canções e histórias que evocam uma visão do tempo em espiral, que volta e vem, reinventando um passado roubado e propondo, no presente, outros lugares e imaginários para corpos negros.
A partir de uma sustentação teórico-metodológica feminista, executamos uma análisefílmica sobre a produção britânica “The Fall”, para elucidarmos a construção dos olharescinemáticos e como eles são acionados e utilizados para sujeitar os corpos das mulheresem produções audiovisuais. Nossa análise crítica se ancora nos estudos feministas doaudiovisual e nos estudos televisivos, bem como nas teorias do cinema. A partir domergulho em duas sequências, demonstramos como Stella Gibson desarticula os três olharesfílmicos, sedimentados e tecnizados por ângulos androcêntricos, e, a partir dessa incursão,constituindo-se como sujeito do seu próprio desejo.
