Termos para indexação: árvores de decisão, levantamento pedológico, parâmetros geomorfométricos, sistemas de informação geográfi ca. Data mining to infer soil-landscape relationships in digital soil mappingAbstract -The objective of this work was to develop a methodology for digital soil mapping at a 1:100,000 scale by applying data mining techniques to preexisting relief descriptors and data from pedological and geological maps. A digital database was created from topographic and thematic maps, and allowed the generation of a digital elevation model (DEM) of the Dois Córregos (SP, Brazil) sheet (1:50,000 scale). The slope gradient, slope profi le, contour profi le, basin contributing area, and diagonal distance to drainage geomorphometric parameters were extracted from the DEM. The matrix which associated this georeferred data was analyzed by means of decision trees within the Weka machine-learning environment, and a model for soil mapping unit prediction was generated. The overall model accuracy increased from 54 to 61% when soil classes with no chances of being predicted were excluded. The association of data mining techniques with geographical information systems produced digital soil maps feasible to be used in studies requiring less detail than those made with the original reference soil maps.
Since colonial times, Brazilian land use has been made under an extractivist model at the expense of deforestation, increasing soil and vegetation depletion, stream siltation, as well as loss of biodiversity. An ecological-economic zoning (EEZ) has been taken as feasible alternative to guide public policies aimed at city land-use planning. This study focused on designing an EZZ for the city of Altinópolis, in São Paulo state (Brazil), by means of geographical information systems (GIS). Information and maps delineated six land-use areas, in which 30% covered areas under environmental protection, 45% over areas with groundwater recharge potential, which should be intended to restoration. Furthermore, around 70% of the territory show potential to be grown with agroforestry systems due to soil, climate and relief conditions. These results point out demand for further public policies to encouraging preservation of existing forests and restoration of degraded areas, mainly those covering groundwater-recharge areas.
Abstract Implications of the new forest code on land use planning of a farm of education, research and extension. The occupation of the country, through the exploration of natural resources occurs in a predatory way. Deforestation and opening of new frontiers has been a common practice. The deforestation has been a common practice. However, these results imply adverse attitudes to the environment such as degradation of soils and riparian forest, siltation of streams and biodiversity loss. Considering the importance of forest conservation, Law 4.771/1965 was instituted. However, its goals were not successful because of environmental liabilities currently observed in the farms. Thus, a new law (Law no. 12.651/2012) was approved. According to this scenario, the objective of this article was to investigate the implications of environmental compliance at the Faculty of Education and Research (FEPE) compared to the two existing laws. The survey of environmental information was based on historical use of land areas through photographs. Based on these data were drawn maps of the property with the help of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). It was observed that, according to the law proposed in 2012, there was a reduction in the protected area of legal reserve (50%). On the other hand, there was an increase of 323% of native vegetation in protected areas and of full use of the last 40 years. Keywords: Environmental zoning; geographic information systems; areas of preservation.
