BACKGROUNDThe onset of primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) is usually between 50 and 60 years of age, but it can also occurs in younger patients, in whom there is a higher prevalence of the important prognostic indicators: salivary gland enlargement, adenopathy, purpura and renal involvement, extraglandular involvement, vasculitis, hypocomplementemia, hypergammaglobulinemia, antinuclear antibody (ANA) and anti-Ro antibody. The objective of this study was to compare clinical and laboratory characteristics of early with late onset pSS.
