I n the present work, a novel method was designed to develop an efficient and generally applicable technique for the creation of quaternary ammonium groups in nylon-6 macromolecules via polymerization of 2-methacryloxy ethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride (VQAs) in the presence of nylon-6 nonwoven fabrics using potassium persulphate (K 2 S 2 O 8) as initiator. In addition factors affecting the extent and rate of polymerization (Rp) were investigated and the apparent activation energy was calculated. The reaction mechanism was suggested. Characterization of the grafted with PVQAs Nylon-6 nonwoven fabrics was investigated by X-ray, SEM, and FT-IR.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
