Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between Islamic work ethic (IWE) and employees’ attitude and behaviour in term of perceived organisational justice, psychological ownership (PSY), and employees’ performance in the Islamic financial institutions in Malaysia. Design/methodology/approach This study used a sample of 301 employees of Islamic financial institutions and employed structural equation modelling-partial least square technique in order to analyse the data. Findings The findings demonstrated that IWE has both direct and indirect effects on attitudinal as well as behavioural outcomes. Practical implications Managers who want to enhance their employees’ attitude and behaviour are strongly advised to give proper attention to the concept work ethic. Moreover, they need to conduct training programs to instil these values and to emphasise its crucial role in enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the organisation. Originality/value This study contributes to the body of knowledge on IWE by: testing its ability to predict employees’ performance, their perception of organisational justice, and their feeling of PSY, and examining the mediating effect of perceived organisational justice and PSY between IWE and employees’ performance.
Purpose Most of the past studies related to organisational justice focussed on different types of justice, such as procedural justice, distributive justice and interactional justice either separately or collectively. Still, further investigation on the overall concept of fairness is required to extend theoretical generalisability. Moreover, researchers argued that overall fairness rather than a specific type represents more concrete situation about employees’ perception of fairness within an organisation. Considering this, the purpose of this paper is to examine the mediating effect of overall fairness perception (OFP) in relation to workplace outcome as well as its predictive ability on employees’ attitude and behaviour in term of psychological ownership and citizenship behaviour. Design/methodology/approach A total of 250 questionnaires were distributed among the employees of financial institutions in Malaysia, which yielded 150 completed usable responses. Smart PLS (version 3) software and SPSS were utilised in order to analyse the data. Findings The results revealed that overall fairness plays a crucial role as a mediator as well as a predictor. Limitations and future research directions are also discussed. Practical implications This study provides useful insights for the mangers of financial institutions. It also suggests strategies about how to manage justice and workplace outcomes at workplace. Originality/value This paper is among the pioneers to address the mediating role of OFP in relations to workplace attitude and behaviour in non-western context.

This study aims to identify the role of cloud computing in achieving success in e-governance in Jordan. This paper investigates the effect of four accomplishment aspects (availability, flexibility, cost saving and scalability) for executing cloud computing technology in telecommunication companies on Jordan e-governance implementation. A questionnaire was developed to collect data from respondents working for the three-main public mobile telephone network operators: Zain, Orange and Umniah. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences program was used in the descriptive analysis of the responses. The results show that all four success factors have a high level of impact, separately and together, on e-governance in Jordan. Cost saving has the highest impact, followed by scalability, availability and flexibility. Based on these results, the study makes some suggestions for further research that could enrich understanding of the implementation of cloud computing and its effect on egovernance in Jordan.

Energy drinks are becoming a growing issue worldwide, particularly amongst young adults and adolescents. Many researchers and healthcare practitioners have reported serious health problems and even some of them have reported death cases were caused by the consumption of energy drinks. Due to that concern for the health of our youth and for their wellbeing, we noticed a need to research this issue in developing countries particularly in Jordan to unravel any potential health problems. Therefore, this research explores the impact of the de-marketing approach (health education and the pressure of peer, community, and parents) via Facebook to decrease energy drink consumption in young adults and adolescents. This study uses a quantitative method; the sample was limited to adults and adolescents from 15 to 24 years old.The link of the questionnaire had been uploaded along with an introduction page to the Facebook. Only 684 usable questionnaires were obtained. The results shows that the de-marketing variables such as health education and both community and parents' pressure have a significant impact on the respondents' intention to stop consuming energy drinks. On the other hand, there is no significant impact of peers' pressure on the respondents' intention to stop consuming energy drinks. Thus, the study proposes some applicable recommendations as a starting point to apply measures in order to avoid health problems that are related to risky consumption and unawareness of energy drinks side effects.
