The article presents the analysis of the combustion engine damage assessment in the public transport vehicles. The analyses concerned checking the interrelation between the initial and annual kilometrage of vehicles and the number of the registered orders at the maintenance and conservation system. The examinations were performed on the four brands of buses that were exploited by Municipal Transport Company Lublin. The information about repairs relates to year 2015.
Traffic signs provide drivers with appropriate warnings and information and signal legal requirements and directions. The aim of this article is to research the frequency and duration of a driver's gaze at traffic signs. The selected stretch of road in the Slovak Republic has been subjected to a high number of traffic accidents with the most common causes reported as incorrect driver behavior and distracted driving. Therefore, the study's objective is to measure the time drivers spend looking at billboards. To achieve this outcome, the study uses eye tracking glasses, which are designed to record a person's natural gaze behavior in real-time. Previous research has shown that the average time gazing at a billboard is 0.543 seconds. The article also contains a comparison of driver's gaze at different traffic signs and billboards. The economic quantification of traffic accidents on the selected road is also included in the article.
Road safety has an extremely important role in existing transportation systems. Drivers on the road are influenced by various factors (light and temperature conditions, visual smog, environment surrounding, etc.) and driver´s distraction represents the most common cause of road traffic accidents. According our previous researches, we found that visual smog has a negative influence on drivers on the road. However, the task of placing the traffic signs on the roads is to increase road safety, thus positively influencing the driver while driving. The main objective of this article is to measure the visibility of traffic signs on selected roads in specific light conditions (in night). Secondary objective is to measure visibility of roadside advertisement (billboards) near roads that are influencing driver´s distractions in negative way. The mobile ETG technology (eye tracking glasses) has been used as a method for measuring the gaze of the driver's eyes on traffic signs in night conditions. We compared the results from our previous research (daylight conditions) with the obtained results from the current research. On the basis of the comparison of both measurements we can find out differences (positive and negative) in influence of traffic signs and road side advertisements on drivers in various light conditions.
The phenomenon of the present postal services is the fact that, customers expect the lowest price while maintaining the availability, security and on time delivery of mail items. We can find that, the costs associated with transport of the postal substrate is one of the most important factors affecting the total cost of the postal services. These transport costs depend on various factors such as the investment in vehicles purchase, operational costs of the postal vehicles (costs of maintenance, repairs, fuel costs of the vehicle, etc.) labour costs of the drivers and so on. For this reason, it is important to find such an operational -organizational solutions that can reduce the costs associated with the transportation of postal shipments, resulting in reducing the total cost of postal services. One option to do this is to minimize the length of postal transportation routes. This article presents the approach based on the application of graph theory to optimize existing connections of postal logistics network. Published results is oriented to revaluate existing position of local centre and find a location for the new local distribution centre potentially. New location of local distribution centre can to optimize (minimize) the total transport costs of the local postal transportation network in area of the Lublin Province.
