The total cross section for ω production in the pp → ppω reaction has been measured at five c.m. excess energies from 3.8 to 30 MeV. The energy dependence is easily understood in terms of a strong protonproton final state interaction combined with a smearing over the width of the state. The ratio of near-threshold φ and ω production is consistent with the predictions of a one-pion-exchange model and the degree of violation of the OZI rule is similar to that found in the π − p → nω/φ reactions.
The d d → α X 0 reaction at beam energies close to the η threshold shows very strong structure in the missing mass corresponding to the ABC enhancement. The deuteron tensor analysing power A yy , and the slope of the vector analysing power A y with respect to angle, have been measured for this reaction around the forward direction. Both signals are small, and their variations with the α-particle momentum are in broad agreement with a theoretical model in which each pair of nucleons in the projectile and target deuterons undergoes pion production through the NN →
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
