Nach Gegenüberstellung von Vorzügen und Schwierigkeiten der z. Z. vertretenen Anschauungen über den Primärvorgang und die Folgereaktionen der katalytischen Ammoniakoxydation (Nitroxyl‐, Imid‐, Hydroxylamintheorie; Reaktionen mit molekularem oder atomarem Sauerstoff) werden neuerer technische Erfahrungen bezüglich Reaktion und Katalysator zusammengestellt. Mit diesen Unterlagen unter Zuziehung der Literatur wird auch unter technischen Bedingungen eine Entscheidung zu Gunsten eines Primär‐Vorganges mit atomarem Sauerstoff erreicht. Einige neue Aussagen über den Verlauf der Folgereaktionen und das Verhalten von Pt‐Katalysatoren werden begründet. Durch Hinzuziehung neuerer Erfahrungen der Blausäurebildung wird die gewonnene Auffassung bestätigt und ergänzt.
