Vorkommen, Isolierungen und mikroskopische Untersuchungen R. SCHWEISFURTH (Eingegangen ant 25.11.1970) Aus Boden, Wasser, Eisen-Mangan-Schlammeii und Manganoxid-Cagerstitten wurden etwa 50 inanganoxidierende Pilze isoliert. Die Befiihigung zur Manganoxidation ist nicht auf einzelne Familien, Ordnungen und Gattungen beschriinkt. Mehrere Arten gleicher Gattung konnen demnach in ihrem Verhalten gegeniiber Mn++ verschieden sein.Menge und makroskopisch erkennbare Form der gebildeten Manganoxide sind verschieden (locker-unstrukturiert, fiidig oder kugelig), jedoch fur Gruppen von Pilzarten typisch und anniherend gleich innerhalb einer Art.Manganoxidierende Pilze wurden von verschiedenen Autoren aus Wasser und Roden isoliert und teilweise auch bestimmt (Tab. 1 ) . Untersuchungen uber Bedingungen und Bedeutung der Manganoxidation sowie iiber die mikroskopischen Formen und die Lokalisation der Oxidabscheidungen sind relativ selten vorgenommen worden.Die aus der Literatur bekannten Medien zur Isolierung der Pilze (Tab. 2) gaben, sofern Agar als verfestigende Substanz zur Nahrlosung gegeben wurde, nur begrenzte Hinweise auf biochemische Eigenschaften, da seit BEIJERINCK (1913, 1914) bekannt war, daR eine besondere C-Quelle aul3er den Verunreinigungen des Agars fur Wachstum und Manganoxidation nicht notwendig ist. BEIJERINCK beobachtete auch, daR die von ihm isolierten Pilze auf Agar mit anorganischen Salzen ohne Mangancarbonat schlechter wuchsen als mit diesem Salz. Auf nahrstoffreichen Medien fand BEIJERINCK (1914) keine Manganoxidation, auf armen Medien kam es anfangs zu Wachstum und Mycelbildung und erst spater zur Oxidation des Mangans.Mit Cellulose und einer einfachen Salzlosung (Tab. 2 , Medium b) oxidierten Botrytis, Mycogone, Trichocladium und Xporoeybe chartoikoon ebenfalls Mangan.Organische Mangansalze wurden als Mn-und C-Quelle angegeben ( REI- JERNICK 1913a, HARDER 1919, THIEL 1925, TIMONIN 1950a. Aus den Arbei ten von TIMONIN ist nicht zu entnehmen, ob die organischen Sauren auch als C-Quelle wirkten. TIMONIN fand Manganoxidation seiner auf einem Ca-citrat-MnSO,-Medium isolierten Pilze sowohl mit Mn-citrat und Mn-acetat als auch mit MnCI,, MnSO, und Mn(NO& (Tab.2, Medien g und Anm. 2). MnCO, wurde nur von Curvularia lunata und C. inaegualis nicht oxidiert. Verschiedene Kohlenhydrate forderten im Isolierungsmedium die Oxidation in verschiedenem AusmaB. I n Gegenwart von MnSO, und Ca-formiat, -lactat, -oxalatoder -tartrat wurdo von der Mehrzahl seiner Pilze ebeufalls Mangan oxidiert. Ausnahmen waren Curvularia brachyspora (Oxidation nur mit Ca-formiat) und Helnainthosporium vietoriae (nur mit Ca-lactat).
