Abstract:The throw, which is considered on of the most important manipulative motor skill, is inherent in childhood during play. The domain of motor skills at all life is associated with the levels of regular physical activity practice. The objective was to evaluate the influence of the practice of physical activity on the performance and strategy of throwing movement in children and adults. The subjects were divided in group 1 (mean age: 12 ± 1.16 years) and group 2 (mean age: 22 ± 1.87 years) and made 10 attempts of force throw. For performance analysis, the hits to the target were tabulated; to analyze the strategy of the movement, a categorization was proposed; the physical activity practice was evaluated through a questionnaire. Both groups were classified with "rich" ability and, for the measure of performance, group 2 presented the highest frequency of hits. Regarding the practice of physical activity, group 1 was classified as "moderately active" and group 2 as "sedentary". It is concluded that the transition phase to the specialized movement was determinant, independent of the practice of physical activity.
