Resumo: O número de procedimentos cirúrgicos para redução de peso vem crescendo no Brasil. Dentro deste contexto, o objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar se pacientes obesos tem dificuldade na realização das atividades de vida diária, assim como avaliar o equilíbrio dinâmico de mulheres obesas pré-cirurgia bariátrica. Participaram dessa pesquisa 5 voluntárias com obesidade grau II e III com encaminhamento para cirurgia bariátrica do tipo Bypass Gástrico. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi analisar as possíveis dificuldades que pessoas obesas com indicação cirúrgica possuem ao realizar atividades de vida diária e, assim, compreender como a mobilidade pode interferir no desempenho de atividades funcionais. Acreditamos que os resultados mostrem que pacientes obesos apresentarão dificuldade na manutenção do equilíbrio dinâmico e, conseqüentemente, maior dificuldade para a realização das atividades de vida diária. Materiais e métodosTrata-se de um estudo transversal, não probabilístico e com amostra por conveniência aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética da Universidade Federal de São Paulo sob o parecer nº1018/2016. Participaram do estudo 5 mulheres obesas candidatas à cirurgia bariátrica com idade [média=35 (desvio-padrão=9,6) anos]; IMC 42,57 (4,3) kg/m² e altura 1,58 (0,05) m.Como critérios de exclusão foram adotados a presença de deformidades ou disfunções músculo esqueléticas que interfiram no equilíbrio; disfunções neurológicas; problemas vestibulares; problemas com a visão não corrigível com óculos ou lentes de contato; uso de órteses para deambulação; participar de um programa de atividade física nos últimos 06 meses; gravidez e problemas cognitivos.As voluntárias foram avaliadas entre 20 e 30 dias pré-cirurgia. Após a anamnese, elas foram submetidas a avaliações de mobilidade e equilíbrio dinâmico pelo teste Time Up and Go (TUG) [3] e responderam ao Questionário de Avaliação de Saúde HAQ, que avalia dificuldades de realizar tarefas funcionais.O TUG consiste em cronometrar o tempo que o uma pessoa leva para levantar da cadeira, caminhar uma distância de 3 metros, retornar pelo mesmo percurso e sentar novamente [3]. A pontuação é dada pelo tempo que o voluntário leva para fazer o teste. Resultados do TUG com tempo menor ou igual 10 segundos demonstram que o voluntário possui bom equilíbrio e mobilidade e tempo maior que 10 segundos indica equilíbrio e mobilidade insatisfatórios [4]
