The present investigation entitled "Impact of biofertilizers and levels of zinc and potassium on growth analytical parameters of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.)" The present experiment was laid out in the experimental field of department of Horticulture, College of Agriculture, Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Gwalior (M.P.) during first year (2018 -19), second year (2019 -20) and pooled with 18 treatments of three levels of potassium i.e. 20, 40 and 60 kg/ha, three levels of zinc i.e. 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 kg/ha and two bio fertilizers, Azotobacter and PSB have been presented in the preceding chapter. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with eighteen treatments including control and replicated three times each. The observations were recorded on different aspects of dry weight per plant (g), leaf area per plant (cm 2 ), leaf area index, net assimilation rate (mg cm 2-1 day -1 ), days to sprouting and crop growth rate (g m 2-1 day -1 ). The result of experiment revealed that the potassium (60kg/hac) significantly improved growth parameters among all the potassium levels and zinc (4.5kg/hac) was significantly always affected the all growth parameters, whereas biofertilizers PSB enhanced all the growth parameters at different growth stages.
The present investigation entitled "Response of Kharif onion (Allium cepa L.) for growth and yield to different doses of Sulphur, GA 3 and NAA" was carried out during kharif 2016 -17 (first year) and 2017 -18 (second year) at the experimental field RVSKVV, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajgarh (M.P.) with 27 treatment combinations of three levels of sulphur i.e. 0, 20 and 40 kgha -1 , three levels of Gibberellic acid viz., 0, 50 and 100 ppm and three levels of NAA i.e. 0, 50 and 100 ppm. Results obtained for 2016-17 and 2017-18 and in pooled basis revealed that the application of 40 kg S ha -1 was recorded significantly maximum plant height, number of leaves per plant, bulb/ green top ratio and neck diameter and yield attributes such as fresh weight of bulb, polar and equatorial diameter of bulb and bulb yield per hectare in both the year and in pooled. Foliar application of GA 3 @ 50ppm (G 1 ) and NAA @ 100 PPM (N 2 ) at seedling stage and after 30 days after transplanting also exhibited significantly maximum growth and yield. It was concluded that various growth and yield parameters were improved with the application of S 40 Kg/ha+ GA 3 50 ppm + NAA100ppm for higher yield and quality of Kharif Onion.
PCOS is one of the most common endocrine disorders of women in the reproductive age group. Metabolic syndrome is one of the major health issues currently to be focused on in young age group. To identify women with PCOS at risk of developing the metabolic syndrome and the association of individual metabolic parameters with PCOS. A prospective observational study done in 132 non pregnant women aged 18-35 years diagnosed with PCOS using Rotterdam’s criteria. Metabolic syndrome was diagnosed according to AHA/NHLBI (ATP III 2005) definition. Fisher’s exact test and unpaired t test were applied for statistical analysis. Out of 132 women with PCOS, 31 met the criteria for Metabolic syndrome (23. 5%) and 69.7% women had at least one risk factor out of the five criteria of Metabolic syndrome. Among those meeting criteria for MBS, the mean waist circumference (≥80cms) and mean BMI was found higher (p0.01), and USGmorphology of PCOSp0.05) than those who did not. Presence of acanthosis, SBP/DBP(130/85mmHg), FBS(≥110mg/dl), TG(≥150mg/dl), HDL(≤50mg/dl) were found in significantly greater number in those who met the criteria for MBS as compared to those who did not. Women diagnosed with PCOS and also having features of increased BMI, WC (≥88cms), acanthosis are important risk factors for association of PCOS with Metabolic syndrome in significantly higher numbers and it is important to initiate screening for the same.
