The nucleotide sequence of the first internal transcribed spacer (ITS1) belonging to different ribosomal RNA genes from Pinus pinea are reported. The analyzed ITS1 can be distinguished on the basis of their length, being one 2631 bp and the other 271 bp long. Nucleotide comparison of these regions did not show appreciable sequence homology. The larger ITS1 contains five tandem arranged subrepeats with size ranging between 219 bp and 237 bp. The nucleotide sequence of the 5.8S and the ITS2 regions belonging to the larger ribosomal RNA gene are also reported.
The sequence of the intergenic spacer (IGS) of Phaseolus coccineus is determined. The IGS contains three distinct regions: Region A, constant in length; Region B, heterogeneous in length among genes, including two very similar segments 162 and 177 bp long, repeated two and nine times respectively in the investigated clone; Region C, constant in length, comprising five islands. The putative promoters and the sites of termination, processing and methylation are detected by a comparison with other plant systems.
This paper presents an easily implementable load control strategy aimed at managing shiftable loads in residential buildings, possibly equipped also with centralized storage and generation facilities. The algorithm is compliant with the KNX standard for communication of smart home devices, and ensures the controlled reduction of power peak profiles. Simulation results are discussed in details, comparing the achieved performances with the ones attainable by more complicated benchmark algorithms present in literature, and also giving a first assessment of the return on the investments needed to implement the proposed load control architecture
Summary. Size variations in the intergenic spacer of ribosomalDNA were detected between individual plants of openly pollinated Phaseolus coccineus. Eleven days after sowing, two plant samples were examined: slowly developing plants with a length less than 40 cm; and fast developing plants with a length greater than 70 cm. The two samples were characterized by different plant weight and, at maturity, by highly distinctive seed yield. They also exhibited distinct patterns of protein expression as analyzed by 2-D electrophoresis. In particular a 38 kDa protein, related to malate dehydrogenase on the basis of its N-terminal sequence, was present at higher concentration and higher activity levels in fast developing plants. Intergenic spacer length variants were detected in both samples at approximately 180 bp intervals. More than one spacer length variant was present in each individual plant. At least 13 different intergenic spacer hybridization patterns were in fact detected: some patterns occurred equally in both slowly and fast developing samples while the majority of patterns was significantly different between the two samples.Keywords: Two-dimensional
