This review surveys pharmaceutical analysis and related methodology that has appeared in Analytical Abstracts (AA) or Chemical Abstracts (CA) from June 1976 to June 1978. Although in excess of 1800 entries have been cited, these cover only about 25 to 30% of the work reported during the time period of the review. An attempt has been made to report only those references which have appeared to be significant and have been published in easily accessible journals. The review has been divided into 11 major sections: General, Alkaloids, Antibiotics, Inorganics, Nitrogen-and Oxygen-Containing Compounds, Steroids, Sulfur Containing Compounds, Vitamins, Formulations and Mixtures, Techniques, and Miscellaneous. Most of the major sections have been divided further into subsections. The arrangement of the major sections is discussed below. The percent listed following each section title is the relative number of cited articles in that division. Each reported citation contains the complete title in English as provided by either AA or CA. For papers appearing in languages other than English, translated titles (AA or CA) have been listed. Because of the large number of references cited, the titles are considered part of the text and must be scanned to obtain the full value of the review.General (2.0% ). The section is arranged in alphabetical order by author. Alkaloids (10.3% ). The section is divided into nine major subdivisions, which are arranged in alphabetical order by alkaloid class. Within each subdivision, the individual compounds studied are alphabetized.Antibiotics (12.1 % ). The ten major subdivisions based on compound type are arranged alphabetically by author, except Miscellaneous, which is arranged alphabetically by compound.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
