Summary: The characterization of textured yarn is of great significance for both producers and final users. The influence of the texturing parameters (draw ratio and heater temperature) on the characteristics of the textured polyamide yarn has been investigated in this study. Textured yarn was characterized by the degree of orientation, degree of crystallinity, breaking characteristics, shrinkage, elasticity characteristics, the contents of the end groups and degree of whiteness. It was observed that the mentioned characteristics changed as a function of time. The influence of yarn ageing on its characteristics was assessed. The parameters of polyamide textured yarn structure were determined by DSC.Reflectance curve changes after ageing of PA 66 yarn.imageReflectance curve changes after ageing of PA 66 yarn.
Paragangliomas from 22 patients with extraadrenal tumours of this type were studied. Neuroendocrine features were examined using immunohistochemical techniques. Twenty-two antisera raised against neuroendocrine "markers", regulatory peptides, serotonin and intermediate filament proteins were studied in this group and cytometric DNA assessments were made by means of image cytometry. One normal and 5 hyperplastic carotid bodies were used as controls in the DNA cytometric investigations. Clinical and/or histopathological evidence of "malignancy" was present in 5 cases. The tumour cells showed heterogeneity with regard to their expression of different peptides, and the immunohistochemical analyses did not permit differentiation between benign and malignant paragangliomas. An euploid nuclear DNA distribution pattern was found in all controls and in 17 of the tumours; all except 1 were clinico-pathologically benign. An aneuploid DNA pattern was observed in 5 of the cases and some malignant features were present in 4 of these cases. DNA data may give further information apart from that obtained from the histopathological findings which may be of value in predicting the biological behaviour of this tumour type.
A study of one case of herpes simplex hepatitis in an adult woman is presented. The clinical feature and laboratory findings were typical for acute hepatitis in a febrile patient without herpetic mucocutaneous lesions. The evidence of high IgM antibody titer in serum against herpes simplex virus and confirmation of the herpes simplex virus hepatitis by immunofluorescent microscopy after liver biopsy helped us establish the diagnosis. After 3-months the patient recovered.
Use of corticosteroids in zoster patients gives neither reliable protection from appearance of postherpetic neuralgia, nor shortens its duration. Further investigations are necessary to estimate their effects on postherpetic pain.
The study found that there is a small but, for the safety of transfusion, significant number of blood donors who do not have a positive attitude or awareness of their own impact on safe transfusion therapy and who are not discovered during standard selection procedures.
Introduction: Physical activity (PA) remains the most important modifiable risk factor in the prevention of chronic diseases that are major killers in the modern era. However, many young people today do not meet the recommended guidelines on PA. Few studies were found on the levels of physical activity among adolescents from transitional countries. Objective: To determine the levels of physical activity in a representative sample of healthy adolescents from Pančevo (Serbia), and the factors that determine these level. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 401 randomly selected adolescents (191 boys and 210 girls) from the city of Pančevo, Serbia. The long version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), validated for Serbia, was applied. PA was expressed as metabolic equivalent-minute per week (MET-min/week) and classified as low, moderate, or high. Results: The median PA for the whole sample was 2049.18 MET-min/week. The average PA score in boys was higher (2680 MET-min/week) than in girls (1479 MET-min/week). The prevalence of respondents with inadequate PA was 53.9%, and was higher in girls than in boys. Boys showed the higher values for intense and moderate PA, while the prevalent type of PA among girls was walking. Level of PA did not depend on the adolescent's nutritional status. The most important predictors of PA among the participants were sex, father's PA, and hours spent on sedentary activities like using a computer and watching television. Conclusion: Adolescents in Pančevo do not practice enough physical activity, especially girls. Better strategies are needed, to increase levels of PA, considering the main predictors in the adolescent population. Level of Evidence II; Retrospective study.
People older than 60 years are the most common age group among herpes zoster patients suffering from preherpetic neuralgia. Sex distribution of patients with preherpetic pain reveals highly significant predominance of female sex. Opposite to some other authors' reports, preherpetic neuralgia and its severity have not been proven as risk factors for postherpetic neuralgia in patients involved in our trial.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
