ResumoO desenvolvimento de concretos refratários avançados exige uma otimização simultânea das propriedades reológicas (fluidez e trabalhabilidade) e do tempo de desmoldagem desses materiais. Geralmente, tais propriedades, bem como as variáveis que as influenciam, são avaliadas diretamente no concreto refratário por meio de medidas de fluidez e da resistência mecânica. Tal procedimento demanda tempo e limita a investigação sobre todas as possíveis combinações de variáveis que podem influenciar o mecanismo de consolidação a partir de diferentes agentes ligantes. Neste contexto, esse trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar técnicas alternativas que podem facilitar a avaliação da consolidação de suspensões cerâmicas com o uso de diferentes ligantes, correlacionando propriedades macroscópicas como trabalhabilidade e o tempo de desmoldagem de concretos refratários. Tais técnicas consistem em medidas de condutividade elétrica, da temperatura, dos módulos de armazenamento (G') e de perda (G") dos materiais (ensaios reológicos oscilatórios), e da resistência do material a uma deformação axial imposta (ensaios reológicos de força normal). A microssílica é o material superfino (<1µm) mais amplamente utilizado em concretos refratários, pois melhora significativamente seu empacotamento durante a moldagem, sua fluidez e resistência mecânica a verde. Em elevadas temperaturas também são observadas diversas vantagens, tais como aumento na resistência à corrosão e resistência ao choque térmico, características advindas principalmente da fase mulita, que se forma devido à reação entre alumina e microssílica nas condições de trabalho. Entretanto, estudos referentes ao efeito da adição desse material na etapa de secagem, especificamente no comportamento de explosão, ainda são escassos na literatura. Neste contexto, este trabalho teve como objetivo principal relacionar o teor de microssílica e a variação da temperatura de cura com algumas propriedades dos concretos refratários. Os resultados mostraram que houve aumento da resistência mecânica e redução de permeabilidade com a elevação do teor de microssílica incorporada ao concreto, modificando conseqüentemente o comportamento de explosão. Além disso, tais variáveis também sofreram significativa influência da temperatura utilizada na cura dos concretos.
Suspensões cerâmicas com adequado comportamento reológico são imprescindíveis para a aplicação, adequação do processamento e otimização das propriedades finais dos produtos. No entanto, o uso de técnicas de reometria para análise de suspensões cerâmicas foi pouco explorado na literatura, quando comparado a outros sistemas, tais como polímeros fundidos. Desse modo, pretende-se demonstrar que o emprego de técnicas mais modernas de reometria permite uma nova compreensão desses materiais e das interações entre seus componentes. Neste trabalho foi estabelecida uma metodologia de análise para sistemas cerâmicos tendo como objeto de pesquisa uma suspensão de alumina e sol de sílica. Foi realizada uma série de medidas de viscosidade (eta), módulos de armazenamento (G') e de perda (G") e de força normal (Fn), cujos resultados servirão de base para estudos posteriores no mesmo sistema, visando aplicação em concretos refratários.
ResumoRecentemente, tem-se dado grande enfoque ao estudo de novos agentes ligantes isentos de cálcio e seu emprego em cerâmicas refratárias. Uma das alternativas sugeridas na literatura é o sol de sílica, capaz de se consolidar por meio da formação de uma rede tridimensional de partículas, garantindo a conformação do corpo cerâmico. No entanto, devido à pouca informação sobre o assunto na área de refratários, faz-se necessário um estudo mais detalhado das interações entre as partículas do sol de sílica com as dos diferentes sistemas cerâmicos em que pode ser adicionada. Tal estudo possibilitaria determinar seu potencial como agente ligante e a otimização do processamento e propriedades dos produtos refratários obtidos. Esse trabalho teve como objetivo investigar o impacto de variáveis como temperatura, dispersante e concentração de agentes de gelificação no comportamento de suspensões de alumina e sol de sílica através de técnicas de reometria. Verificou-se que o sol de sílica pode apresentar bom desempenho como agente ligante para suspensões cerâmicas desde que utilizada a aditivação adequada.
