Indonesian people consume rice as their staple food, therefore rice farming is the main source of farming and livelihood for rural residents in Indonesia. Various policies that have been taken by the government to encourage increase in production and productivity of this commodity, but the results have not reached what was expected. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting income of rice farming in Indonesia. The data were analyzed using Multiple Linear Regression Analysis Model (MLRAM). As the results, it found that the significant factors affecting farmers’ income of rice farming in District Maros, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia were productivity, selling prices, and production costs of the rice farming managed by an individual farmer. Then, the MLRAM is a good model in predicting the income of rice farming in the district. In general, these findings are a substantial indicator that imply the importance of improving farm management in order to increase productivity, stabilize selling prices and reduce production costs for rice commodity. By improving farm management, it is expected to encourage farmers to increase their income from rice farming specifically and encourage rural economic growth in Indonesia generally.
The marketing strategy is an effort to find a safe and profitable marketing position in an ongoing business competition industry. Companies need to recognize the level of strengths and weaknesses in competitive activities because this will greatly help to recognize themselves in utilizing every opportunity that exists and try their best to avoid or minimize the risks or threats that will arise next. This study aims to determine whether the right strategy is applied to increase sales of PT Chalodo Sibali Resoe chocolate products in Masamba District, North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi Province. This research uses a descriptive analysis method, internal and external matrices, cartesian diagrams, and SWOT matrices. The results showed that a viable strategy was adopted by PT Chalodo Sibali Resoe to support the company’s business development activities, especially in the field of marketing, including (1) Innovation of business premises as attractive as possible to create comfort and attract consumers’ interest to visit; (2) Producing chocolate products that have their characteristics; (3) Increasing production and product quality; (4) Development of marketing areas.
All actions taken by farmers are not simply focused on benefits that can be obtained today. They also think about sustainability and the ability to make profits in the future. This study aims to discover the sustainability of the results of land conversion that has been carried out by the farmers in Tadokkong Village, Pinrang Regency. This research was conducted in Tadokkong Village, Lembang District, Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi. Data collection was gathered through interviews and questionnaires obtained from the farmers. Analysis of the data used in this study was descriptive qualitative. Data were processed using a Likert scale. The results of this research indicated the sustainability of land conversion derived from three dimensions. First, the economic aspect to see the benefits derived from land conversion. Second is the ecological dimension to see the impact on the environment and the last is the social dimension to know the relationship cooperation between the farmers.
This study aims to determine the competitiveness of the Mandar coconut oil industry in Polewali Mandar Regency. Research methods with descriptive qualitative and quantitative approaches. Industry competitiveness analyzes by the LQ method, Klassen Typology, and Shift Share Analysis (SSA), also the Porter Five Force Model. While the determinants of competitiveness are analyzed with the Porter Diamond Model. The results showed the Mandar coconut oil industry in Polewali Mandar had competitive power based on competition among rival companies, supplier bargaining power, and consumer bargaining power. Also, the comparative advantage of the processing industry is a leading base sector in the area, which is potential and can still develop and be competitive. Factors that determine the competitiveness of the Mandar coconut oil industry are human resources, natural resources and the environment, technology, number of buyers, and the growth rate of demand, and suppliers. Need efforts to improve competitiveness include training and mentoring for Mandar oil entrepreneurs related to increased use of production technology, packaging and promotion to increase competitiveness.
In Indonesia, especially in South Sulawesi, one of the machines used for planting is rice transplanter planting machine. The effective use of rice seed grower machines will ensure better rice productivity, namely increased production and income. The purpose of this study was to compare rice farming income between rice transplanter planting system with manual moving planting and to analyze whether planting technology moved Rice Transplanter more profitable than manual moving planting. The research was conducted in Sidoraharjo Village, Sukamaju District, North Luwu Regency. The analysis method used is the analysis of farm income and the analysis of Return Cost Ratio (R/C). The results of the analysis on the comparison of rice farming income, especially for farmers who use the rice transplanter system is greater when compared to the manual system. The R/C value of agriculture with Rice Transplanter system is 3.63 while the manual system is 2.82. Both agricultural systems are feasible to implement but farms with Rice Transplanter systems have higher feasibility value than manual systems.
