This analytical study demonstrates shear elastic wave propagation in stratified waveguide with emphasis on wave localisation effects using the propagator matrix method. The stratified waveguide consists of two-phase piecewise homogeneous periodically arranged finite number sub-layers along waveguide thickness. Analytical solutions are carried out for traction free waveguide. The existence of two modal types of guided waves is established: i) a localised surface mode occurring in “stopband” and ii) normal modes arising in a “passband” of frequencies.
i.v paper deals with the magnetoelastic interactions for a structure consi.sting of two elastic current carrying superconducting substrates, separated by a gap (vacuum^. The two elastic substrates, which have no acoustic contacts, are coupled by a magnetic field generated by the deformations of the substrates. The surface magnetoelastic waves of Rayleigh type, decaying exponentially with distance from substrates surfaces, are studied. For a plane harmonic wave the dispersion equation is derived and solved to obtain the coupled wave frequencies. The magnetomechanicat coupling effects are investigated in detail and simulations show that the magnetoelastic coupling effect is quite significant when the gap relative thickness is rather small. The existence of two surface gap waves with two different velocities is shown. In .superconducting media the constitutive relations of magnetic field and electrical current of primary nondeformed state are ^iven by means of London's equations.
The guided shear wave localisation is considered in the problem of reflection and refraction through bi–material stratified elastic reflector perfectly sandwiched between two elastic semi–spaces. Bi-material stratified reflector consists of finite number periodically arranged and perfectly bonded elastic sub-layers. A shear wave incident at the interface of layer from the first semi–space will give rise to a guided wave in reflector, a reflected shear wave in the same semi-space and a refracted shear wave in the second semi–space. It is shown that guided wave amplitude is localized at the neighbourhood of the layer interface adjacent to the incidence elastic semi-space and monotonously attenuates with increasing of cell number, if the frequencies of incident wave are in the stopband ranges.
The surface shear wave is studied in layered bi-material structure consisting from an elastic layer lying on an elastic half-space with an imperfectly bonded interface. The two models of the imperfect “slip” and “scattering” interface are considered. The dispersion equations are obtained describing the surface wave phase speed versus wavenumber. Based on the analysis of dispersion equations it is shown that the interface imperfectness can sufficiently decrease in “slip” case or increase in “scattering” case the surface wave phase speed.
