A atuação do tradutor e intérprete de língua de sinais, TILS, na educação pressupõe conhecimentos que o situem nesse contexto e favoreçam a comunicação inclusiva. Neste artigo, considerando narrativas de TILS em fóruns de discussão de um curso a distância realizado num estudo de pesquisa-intervenção, refletimos sobre aspectos das necessidades formativas de TILS que atuam no ensino superior. A atuação enquanto agente educacional tem implicações linguísticas, políticas, institucionais, pedagógicas e das relações sociais, educacionais e acadêmicas. Para atuar em processos de desenvolvimento técnico e profissional, conhecimentos inter-relacionados e interdependentes que constituem as dimensões específica, educacional e profissional de necessidades formativas são relevantes para a prática e suas relações, principalmente, para a relação de posicionamento interdiscursivo que cabe ser estabelecida com o aluno surdo. A relação com o aluno precede e constitui o processo tradutório educacional que ocorre diretamente com o processo educativo, e o reconhecimento de posicionamento de interlocução favorece o desenvolvimento humano, pessoal, social e profissional de modo pluridirecional sob ações de compromisso e responsabilidade social.
Responsável por tornar acessível e inteligível a comunicação entre surdos e ouvintes, ao tradutor-intérprete de Libras que atua no contexto educacional se pressupõem saberes e conhecimentos plurais haja vista a atuação ocorrer em áreas distintas e atuar na interface entre aspectos relativos aos processos tradutórios e de ensino e aprendizagem. A partir de um estudo de revisão de literatura, verifica-se que a formação continuada pode ser uma alternativa de encontro e espaço de debates e reflexões que sinalizam e consolidam as necessidades formativas que surgem da prática, das relações e dos processos tradutórios. A formação pode ainda ampliar os modos de percepção do profissional, além de favorecer conhecimentos específicos das áreas – da educação de surdos, das línguas e da educação inclusiva – também consciência do papel nesse contexto de atuação em que participa das relações pedagógicas ante os pressupostos e demandas relativas à inclusão educacional dos alunos surdos.
