Resumo Neste artigo apresento resultados da pesquisa “A sociologia brasileira e os estudos diaspóricos”, na qual analiso algumas abordagens da sociologia brasileira no tema das relações étnico-raciais e seus pontos de convergência com o debate transnacional sobre a diáspora africana e a crítica pós-colonial. O objetivo central deste artigo é, através da seleção de alguns textos brasileiros, compreender as proximidades entre o pensamento social brasileiro e a crítica pós-colonial e em que medida essa relação nos permite revisitar o que ficou conhecido como “sociologia das relações raciais” no Brasil. O artigo se estrutura através de dois aspectos gerais, quais sejam: a. as diferentes compreensões, por parte de alguns autores da sociologia brasileira, sobre a modernidade e o ethos nacional, e como que a crítica pós-colonial tensiona as bases gerais de compreensão da sociedade brasileira; b. a revisão das noções clássicas de resistência e política, através da estética e das expressões culturais da diáspora. Do nosso ponto de vista, esses aspectos nos ajudam a compreender os processos históricos que racializaram a experiência negra no Brasil, e nos apontam alguns limites analíticos de parte da interpretação sociológica brasileira sobre nossa formação social.
Partindo da Universidade Estadual de Londrina como objeto, a pesquisa em tela teve por objetivo compreender as possíveis transformações ocorridas na estrutura universitária com a adoção de ações afirmativas. A metodologia utilizada foi de ordem qualitativa, realizamos entrevistas com diferentes atores, sobretudo, os estudantes; além disso, também nos valemos de pesquisa documental em documentos oficiais da instituição e em jornais locais; utilizamos ainda, em menor escala, pesquisa quantitativa. O significado de ser cotista revelou-se um importante ponto de observação da relação entre estrutura universitária e sistema de cotas. Por fim, a pesquisa demonstrou que a alteração do significado de ser cotista tem produzido uma tensão na estrutura universitária.
O artigo traz uma reflexão a respeito das mudanças conceituais percebidas no Brasil ao longo do último século no que tange às suas características étnico-raciais. O objetivo é analisar as transformações sentidas não apenas na composição étnico-racial do país, mas também os motivos sociais, teóricos e políticos que fizeram com que se abandonassem os debates em torno do mestiço e se chegasse ao contexto atual, em que se pauta outra lógica, qual seja: a identificação afro-brasileira. A ideia de um país mestiço e a busca pelo branqueamento do país significaram a institucionalização da desmemória das origens étnico-raciais. Isso fez com que negros e indígenas fossem incorporados na sociedade brasileira não como sujeitos plenos de direitos, mas enquanto “marcos da brasilidade”. O negro no Brasil do século XXI, por meio de sua intelectualidade, tem se afirmado enquanto afro-brasileiro, trilhando o caminho de recriar sua origem para além da fronteira nacional; ou seja, não se trata de um retorno ao lar africano, mas do refazer de sua subjetividade, em um terceiro espaço, um território subjetivo. Isso se dá por meio da crítica à racialização de sua pertença étnica, bem como à hierarquização a qual foi submetida sua história, denunciando a maneira como a diferença se transformou em pretexto e justificativa para a desigualdade social.
O artigo trata de uma pesquisa que teve como objeto o processo de transição capilar relacionado aos usos de plataformas de mídias digitais no Brasil. Seu objetivo foi compreender os impactos deste processo para a construção de identificações de mulheres negras e não-negras, considerando as representações acerca do cabelo crespo e da população negra. Foi realizada através de uma etnografia por meios digitais e teve como materiais publicações de um blog sobre transição capilar, a observação de uma amostra de grupos na plataforma Facebook e relatos fornecidos através de um questionário estruturado. A transição capilar tem impactado a construção de identificações de parte dessas mulheres que negociam e produzem formas de autorrepresentação em um contexto de disputa pelo significado do uso do cabelo natural.
