The transformations that had already been occurring in higher education were accelerated in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which changed the course of the whole world and affected the way people carry out their activities, as in the case of teaching. With the crisis and consequent social isolation, teachers had to start Emergency Remote Learning (ERE) to somehow keep their classes going. For this, they needed to make several adaptations. Therefore, the main purpose of this work is to understand how higher education teachers can adapt to new technologies and methodologies in a crisis scenario and the main challenges that emerge from this process. To this end, a qualitative research was carried out, of descriptive type, by means of semi-structured interviews with eight in-class higher education teachers from a private University. The data analysis and interpretation was done by means of content analysis. The main results point out the difficulties faced by teachers within this new model, as well as the practices performed by them. It also presents a possible scenario for higher education after the pandemic and the changes in the role of the teacher in this new digital and technological context.
