Low-level laser therapy treatment (LLLT) is widely used in rehabilitation clinics with the aim of accelerating the process of tissue repair; however, the molecular bases of the effect of LLLT have not been fully established. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the influence of the exposure of different doses of LLLT on the expression of collagen genes type I alpha 1 (COL1α1) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the fibroblast cells of mice (L929) cultivated in vitro. Fibroblast cells were irradiated with a Gallium-Arsenide laser (904 nm) every 24 h for 2 consecutive days, stored in an oven at 37 °C, with 5% CO2 and divided into 3 groups: G1-control group, G2-irradiated at 2 J/cm(2), and G3-irradiated at 3 J/cm(2). After irradiation, the total RNA was extracted and used in the complementary DNA (cDNA) synthesis. The gene expression was analyzed by real-time polymerase chain reaction. The cells irradiated in G2 exhibited a statistically significant growth of 1.78 in the expression of the messenger RNA (mRNA) of the COL1α1 gene (p = 0.036) in comparison with G1 and G3. As for the VEGF gene, an increase in expression was observed in the two irradiated groups in comparison with the control group. There was an increase in expression in G2 of 2.054 and G3 of 2.562 (p = 0.037) for this gene. LLLT (904 nm) had an influence on the expression of the genes COL1α1 (2 J/cm(2)) and VEGF (2 e 3 J/cm(2)) in a culture of the fibroblast cells of mice.

Objective This study aimed to analyze cell viability and gene expression interleukin 6 and vascular endothelial growth factor after continuous ultrasound therapy of 1 and 3 MHz in L929 fibroblast cells. Design The L929 cells were cultivated in 12-well plates and divided into the following five groups: Group 1 (G1), nonirradiated; G2, 0.2 W/cm2–1 MHz; G3, 0.5 W/cm2–1 MHz; G4, 0.2 W/cm2–3 MHz; and G5, 0.5 W/cm2–3 MHz. The cells were irradiated at 24 and 48 hrs. Cell viability was evaluated using the MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) method. The gene expression analysis was assessed using real-time polymerase chain reaction. Results The G2 and G3 showed a decrease in cell viability when compared with the G1 at 48 hrs (P < 0.01). The G4 and G5 presented an increase in viability (P = 0.01 and P = 0.03, respectively) in 24 to 48 hrs. The cells irradiated at an intensity of 0.5 W/cm2–3 MHz at 48 hrs showed a 0.21-fold decrease in interleukin-6 gene transcripts and a 1.67-fold increase in vascular endothelial growth factor gene transcripts. Conclusions Continuous ultrasound therapy with a frequency of 3 MHz at an intensity of 0.5 W/cm2 stimulates cell proliferation, decreases interleukin-6 gene expression, and increases vascular endothelial growth factor gene expression in L929 fibroblast cells.

Introduction: There is increasing interest from the general population, the search for the most suitable and safe exercise programs. Some equipment, such as Kangoo Jumps (KJ), allows performing exercises with less impact on the joints, and probably infer on postural control. Objective: To investigate the effect of exercise submaximal exercise running with and without the use of equipment KJ on postural control variables. Method: Participated in the study with an individual 20 years old, male, equivalent to 86kg of body weight. The test was to evaluate the postural balance using a force platform with bipedal before and after conventional and adapted from Cooper (using the KJ) test support. The equilibrium parameters were recorded: (A-COP in cm 2 ) of displacement of the center of pressure; average swing speed of the COP (MVeloc in cm/s) in the anteroposterior planes (A/P) and medial-lateral (M/L). Results: The results showed that after using the equipment KJ, A-COP (-39.70%) MVeloc the A/P (-20.66%) and M/L (-20.48%) were best compared with the race without using KJ test. Conclusion: It is concluded that after running exercise on submaximal exercise with the use of equipment KJ had become favorable outcome for postural balance. One such reason would be because of its system of absorption and dissipation of impact, which allows a better activation of the proprioceptive system through increasing the speed of afferent estimate. The intervention of this study shows that the use of the KJ has significant equipment to maintain postural stability near control values benefits. However, further studies are needed, due to lack of evidence of the parameters of this equipment and the small number in our sample. Keywords: exercise; postural balance; running. Objetivo: Verificar o efeito do exercício de esforço submáximo de corrida, com e sem a utilização do equipamento KJ, sobre variáveis do controle postural. Método: Participou do estudo um indivíduo com 20 anos de idade, sexo masculino, peso corporal equivalente a 86 kg. O teste consistiu em avaliar o Equilíbrio Postural utilizando uma plataforma de força com apoio bipodal, pré e pós teste de Cooper convencional e adaptado (com o uso do KJ). RESUMOIntrodução: A ginástica rítmica (GR) é uma modalidade esportiva que combina arte a gestos biomecânicos de alta complexidade, que requer alto nível de desenvolvimento de qualidades físicas como: agilidade, flexibilidade, força, impulsão e destreza. Nessa modalidade, estudos comprovam que as lesões mais frequentes ocorrem nas articulações do joelho e tornozelo e, em alguns casos, nas extremidades do punho, sendo os entorses as mais registradas, principalmente em atletas de nível de competição. Diante disso, a propriocepção e o controle muscular possuem papel fundamental na estabilidade articular dinâmica, já que após lesões ortopédicas algumas características sensório--motoras são alteradas e devem ser o foco de programas de reabilitação para que se obtenha melhor retorno às atividades como antes da lesão. Objetivo: Avaliar o efeito do treinamento proprioceptivo sobre o equilíbrio postural de atletas de ginástica rítmica, a partir da utilização da plataforma de força. Métodos: Foi realizado um treinamento proprioceptivo no período de 2 meses, subdividido em três fases, com progressão da complexidade dos exercícios a cada fase de treinamento. Resultados: Podemos observar que houve uma melhora significativa dos resultados da última fase do treinamento, quando foram utilizados exercícios de maior complexidade e agilidade, de acordo com o protocolo. Conclusão: Por se tratarem de atletas de GR de alto desempenho e apresentarem predomínio de atividades em apoio unipodal, os protocolos de propriocepção devem ser mais intensos, gerando um maior nível de perturbações e desequilíbrios posturais. Aims: To analyse the effects of microcurrent on L929 fibroblast cell culture. Methods: Cells were cultivated in six-well plates at densities of 5×104, 1×105, 3×105 and 5×105 cells/well to determine the best plating density. Subsequently, two methods of current application were tested: with a paper cone coupled to the electrode (M1) and with the electrode directly inside the well (M2). Then, streams of 60µA (G60), 100µA (G100), 500µA (G500) and 900µA (G900) were applied to the cells (n=3) once a day for three minutes, for a period of one (T1), two (T2) and three days (T3). The MTT assay method was used to evaluate cell proliferation. For the quantification of the inflammatory markers by flow cytometry, the group and time that presented the best results were selected. Results: The ideal plating density was established as 1x105 cells/well and M2 as the best application method. An increase in cell viability was observed at all intensities from T1 to T2, but with no significant differences. From T2 to T3, there was a decrease in viability in all groups, with a significant difference only in G500 (p<0.05). Flow cytometry was performed in the GC and G900 groups at T2. It was possible to observe an increase of 0.56pg/ml in Interleukin (IL)-17 and a decrease of 5.45pg/ml in IL-2. Conclusion: This study showed that two applications of microcurrent increases cell proliferation and modulates the inflammatory response, aiding tissue regeneration and playing a key role in rehabilitation.

Objetivo: Verificar a eficácia da lavagem das mãos no controle de disseminação de microrganismos. Método: Delineamento experimental realizado em universitários da área da saúde, utilizando como antissépticos água e sabão e álcool 70% (gel e liquida). Os procedimentos de lavagem simples das mãos e uso de álcool 70% foram distribuídos em cinco grupos: Grupo sem lavagem das mãos (MS); Grupo lavagem simples das mãos com água e sabão (LS); Grupo lavagem das mãos com água e sabão e uso de álcool 70% (liquido) (LSA70), Grupo lavagem das mãos com água e sabão e uso de álcool 70% (gel) (LSAG) e Grupo apenas com uso de álcool gel (MAG). Resultados: Participaram do estudo 125 universitários. Foi observada significância estatística quando comparado os seguintes grupos: MS versus MAG (p<0,001), MS versus LSA70 (p<0,001), LS versus MAG (p<0,05), MS versus LSAG (p<0,001), LSAG versus MAG (p<0,001) e LSAG versus LSA70 (p<0,05). Conclusão: O álcool 70% foi eficaz na redução de crescimento de microrganismos em relação à lavagem simples das mãos. O álcool em forma de gel demonstrou ter melhor resultado quando aplicado sem a lavagem previa das mãos enquanto que o álcool na forma liquida foi mais eficaz após a lavagem das mãos.

RESUMO. Todos os tipos de imobilização contribuem para a atrofia muscular e, em apenas alguns dias, os músculos passam por diminuição de volume ou perda de função, conhecidos como atrofia. Assim, com uma ou duas semanas de imobilização, as atividades metabólicas são consideravelmente reduzidas e suas fibras musculares substituídas por tecido cicatricial fibroso denso. Dessa forma, este estudo teve como objetivo analisar o efeito da imobilização articular do músculo sóleo do membro posterior de ratos no perfil morfométrico, em diferentes períodos. Foram utilizados dez Rattus navergicus albinus machos, variedade Wistar, que foram divididos em dois grupos com cinco animais cada, sendo o primeiro grupo submetido à imobilização por sete dias e o segundo por 14 dias. O controle do experimento foi obtido a partir do membro contralateral direito do respectivo animal. A imobilização do membro posterior esquerdo foi por meio de uma órtese adaptada. A análise morfométrica do sóleo foi realizada por meio de cortes transversais não seriados de 5 μm de espessura. Foram analisadas, por meio das imagens obtidas, a área das fibras musculares, juntamente com a densidade do tecido conjuntivo, comparando-as ao Grupo-controle, referentes à perna contralateral. Com sete e 14 dias de imobilização, pode-se observar redução significativa (p < 0,05) na área das fibras musculares, associada a um aumento dos espaços intersticiais, principalmente ao redor dos fascículos musculares. Isto sugere ampliação na densidade do tecido conjuntivo e hipotrofia muscular. Com isso, conclui-se que a imobilização, mesmo que por curto período de tempo, pode alterar a integridade da musculatura esquelética, com importantes implicações funcionais.Palavras-chave: imobilização, músculo sóleo, atrofia muscular.ABSTRACT. This study has as objective to analyze the effect of joint immobilization of the soleus muscle of posterior members of rats on morphometric profile view, at periods of 7 and 14 days. Ten male Rattus navergicus albinus, Wistar variety, were used, separated into two groups of 5 animals each, with the first group submitted to immobilization for 7 days and the second for 14 days. Introduction: The ultrasound is widely used clinical practice focused on tissue repair, because it is a secure resource, minimally-invasive and low investment. However, despite the effects of ultrasound have been well described, the ideal relationship between dose and effect, still needs to be better elucidated and bounded. Objective: In this way, the objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of irradiation pulsed ultrasound and continuous in the viability of fibroblastic cells L929 in vitro. Method: The cells were distributed in TPP plates 12 wells in the concentration of 5x10 5 cells/µL and subdivided into the following groups: G1: control (not received radiation), G2: irradiated to 0.5 W/cm 2-30% and G3: irradiated to 0.5 W/cm 2-100%. Then received ultrasonic irradiation with intervals of 24, 48 and 72 hours, and after 24 hours of each irradiation was performed MTT cytotoxicity cell. Results: Among the three groups analyzed, only the G2 group showed a significant difference between the time 48 and 72 hours (p=0.05). In other times, despite variation in the percentage of viable cells, were not significant. When compared to peers at post-test, it was possible to observe a difference of 29% of viable cells between the groups G1 and G2 (p=0.05). However, the biggest difference was observed between the groups G2 and G3 (p=0.05). Conclusion: In this way, it can be concluded that irradiation pulsed ultrasound showed higher proliferation of fibroblasts L929 in time 48 hours, whereas in group irradiated in continuous mode, there was no statistically significant difference between the times.
