The complete and predictable restoration of the periodontium following infection or trauma remains a critical objective in regenerative therapy. Bone grafts remain among the most widely used therapeutic strategies for the correction of periodontal osseous defects. For periodontally compromised anterior teeth, reconstruction of the ridge along with natural tooth pontic serves both the purpose of regeneration and esthetics. The right lower central incisor of a 28-year-old male that was periodontally compromised was extracted. Autogenous chin grafting followed by retrograde surgery of the extracted tooth and replacement by natural tooth pontic was done. After 6 months, there was significant improvement in clinical picture and bone fill. This procedure provided excellent regenerative and esthetic results for the periodontally compromised lost anterior tooth.
Dental implants are one of the best ways to replace the missing teeth. The success rate of dental implants depends upon various factors including local and systemic factors. Osteoporosis is skeletal disease characterized by compromised bone density with increased bone fragility and increased risk of fracture. Osseointegration of an implant depends upon host bone quality and quantity, its healing capacity and various other systemic conditions. So, here we discuss whether the osteoporotic patients are suitable candidates for dental implants or not?
Rehabilitation of edentulous patient is done by dentist with the fabrication of complete denture. It is commonly observed that mandibular dentures are not satisfactory when compared to maxillary denture due to centrifugal resorption of mandible. Thus rehabilitation of atrophied edentulous mandible by using implant to support and retain the prosthesis is an acceptable treatment option. It adds to the denture stability, increase masticatory efficiency and comfort of the patient. The present case report discuss about a patient with prosthodontics rehabilitation consisting of single implant supported overdenture.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
