Objetivo: verificar a prevalência de sintomas osteomusculares entre os trabalhadores de enfermagem de um hospital público do estado do Piauí. Metodologia: trata-se de uma pesquisa de campo, descritiva e exploratória, de abordagem quantitativa, realizada com 60 profissionais de enfermagem em uma instituição hospitalar. A pesquisa foi aprovada no comitê de ética e pesquisa com a CAAE nº 51757615.6.0000.5209. Resultados: obteve-se a prevalência de dor ou desconforto osteomuscular de 88,3% nos últimos doze meses e 58,3% nos últimos sete dias. Considerações finais: observou-se que existe elevado percentual de profissionais de enfermagem acometidos pelos sintomas osteomusculares, demonstrando a necessidade de elaboração de estratégias para combater e prevenir os sintomas osteomusculares relacionados ao trabalho. Objective: to verify the prevalence of sedentary behavior among primary health care professionals in a municipality of Piauí. Methodology: it is a descriptive field research with a quantitative approach developed at the Basic Health Units of the municipality of Floriano, state of Piauí, with 36 health professionals, during the months of April and May of the year 2016. The study was based on Resolution on the National Health Council n. 466/12, was approved in the ethics and research committee with CAAE n. 51757915.9.0000.5209. Results: the prevalence of 55.6% of sedentary professionals, 52.8% were insufficiently active at work, 39.3% had a habit of watching TV for more than 3 hours, and 41.7% had a mass index high body weight. Conclusion: it was observed that, although they were health professionals, there was a high percentage of sedentary behavior, an aspect that can be modified through activities that do not become insufficiently active in their work environment, stimulating the adoption of practices that favor health, an essential factor to perform their work activities satisfactorily. Conclusão: observou-se que, apesar de tratarem-se de profissionais de saúde, houve um elevado percentual de comportamento sedentário, aspecto passível de modificações através de atividades voltadas para que os mesmos não tornem-se insuficientemente ativos em seu ambiente de trabalho, estimulando a adoção de práticas que favoreçam a saúde, fator indispensável para desempenhar suas atividades laborais satisfatoriamente.
