The results of a study on the binary HIP 18856 and construction of its orbit are presented. New observational data were obtained at the BTA of SAO RAS in 2007-2019. Earlier, Cvetković et al. constructed the orbit for this system. However, it is based on six measurements, which cover a small part of the orbit. The positional parameters of the ESA astrometric satellite Hipparcos published speckle interferometric data (Mason et al., Balega et al., Horch et al.) and new ones were used in this study. Based on the new orbital parameters, the mass sum was calculated and the physical parameters of the components were found. The obtained orbital and fundamental parameters were compared with the data from the study by Cvetković et al.. The comparison shows that the new orbital solution is better than the old one, since it fits new observational data accurately. Also based on a qualitative evaluation performed by Worley & Heintz, the new orbit was classified as “reliable”, which means data cover more than half of the orbit with sufficient quantities of residuals of measurements.
The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly affected the lives and mental health of people around the world, and it has become clinically essential to define risk factors in order to provide adequate prevention and support. The aim of the study was to describe coping strategies in Polish women related to the COVID-19 pandemic using the balance model, one of the most important concepts of positive psychotherapy (PPT after Peseschkian since 1977). The analysis included 735 women at the mean age of 39.61 years. The survey was conducted using the questionnaire form on the website. Based on Beck’s depression test, depressive disorders were disclosed in 32.65%, and both the presence and severity of depressive syndromes were inversely correlated with age. Using a cluster analysis, three adaptation strategies could be identified, related to the different prevalence of depressive disorders. Relationships proved the most crucial area of the balance model, responsible for the effectiveness of the coping strategy. Based on the obtained results, it has to be concluded that preventive measures should primarily concern women aged <25 years old and focus on strengthening the relationships area.

Fifty years of worldwide success of Positive Psychotherapy practice suggested that primary capacities, postulated by prof. Nossrat Peseschkian, are reliable criteria to diagnose the integration level of personal psychological functioning. If this assumption is correct, then the higher level of integration of primary capacities should correlate with better adaptability, and inversely the lower level of integration should correlate with a higher level of perceived stress, anxiety and depression under the pressure of crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. To test this hypothesis, we surveyed internationally 1165 respondents, collecting data on emotional reactions and coping strategies engaging primary capacities of personality structure. As a result of this research, we discovered that a lower integration level of 4 out of 8 primary capacities, namely: ideal, trust, love, and time significantly correlate with a higher level of perceived depression, anxiety and stress. Those results support our initial hypothesis that the lower level of primary capacities would allow a higher level of depression and anxiety.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
