À partir d’observations participantes menées dans une formation immersive en langue bretonne (Kamp Etrekeltiek ar Vrezhonegerion – KEAV), les auteurs analysent les formes d’engagement en formation comme étant à la fois individuelles et collectives. Si l’engagement collectif s’inscrit dans une démarche militante culturelle et politique en valorisant la dimension communautaire, l’engagement des individus en formation ne peut se faire que s’il existe un positionnement individuel et volontaire. C’est par conséquent à la condition d’un engagement pour soi, ayant du sens pour l’individu, que l’engagement collectif peut devenir, dans un second temps, un espace formatif, dans et par la sociabilité. L’engagement individuel est présenté ici comme une stratégie individuelle à deux entrées, se combinant le plus souvent l’une avec l’autre : un questionnement sur la filiation (linguistique) et un positionnement pragmatique sur les bénéfices de cet apprentissage.
