A brief explanation of a finite element heat transfer method which can simulate fire testing of noncombustible materials is presented in this paper. This type of computer modeling can aid in obtaining more fire test information with less effort. Three computer models using this numerical technique are compared with actual fire tests. The models simulated fire tests on U.S. Navy bulkhead systems and non-load bearing wall systems.
This paper discusses the development and trusion process. The simulation is broken down into seven phases which represent various thermal conditions throughout the process.verification of a finite element heat transfer computer program which can simulate a PVC pipe ex-
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
