As the number of medical web sites in various languages increases, it is more than necessary to implement control measures that give the consumers adequate guarantee that the health web sites they are visiting, meet a minimum level of quality standards and that the professionals offering the information on the web site are responsible for its contents. The paper presents the current mechanisms for labelling medical web content and introduces the work done in the EC-funded projects Quatro and MedIEQ. Quatro has defined a vocabulary for quality labels and a schema to deliver them in a machine-processable format. MedIEQ aims to support the work of medical quality labelling organisations providing tools to monitor already labelled medical sites as well as to locate unlabelled sites and examine them against a set of pre-defined labelling criteria.
Abstract. The movement to share data has been on the rise in the last decade and lately in the agricultural domain. Similarly platforms for publishing scientific and statistical datasets have sprouted and have improved visibility and availability of datasets. Yet there are still constraints in making datasets discoverable and reusable. Commonly agreed semantics, authority lists to index datasets and standard formats and protocols to expose data are now essential. This paper explains how the CIARD RING provides a global linked data catalog of datasets for agriculture. The first part of this paper will describe the Linked Data layer of the CIARD RING focusing on the data model, semantics used and the CIARD RING LOD publication. The second part will provide examples of re-use of data from the RING. The paper concludes by describing the future steps in the development of the CIARD RING.
Abstract:The POWDER protocol is a Semantic Web technology that takes advantage of natural groupings of URIs in order to annotate all the resources in a regular expressiondelineated sub-space of the URI space. POWDER is a mechanism for accreditation, trustmarking, and resource discovery, emphasising the publishing of attributed metadata by third parties and trusted authorities. Demonstrating its versatility, it has also been deployed in unforeseen use cases, such as repository compression. In this paper we present the POWDER protocol, explain its position in the Semantic Web architecture, expose and discuss current implementations and use cases, and future directions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations鈥揷itations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
