Three "real life" cases are considered in this paper to apply and compare the rankings obtained by the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and other Multicriteria Decision Making (MCDM) techniques such as Simple Additive Weighting (SAW), ELECTRE and Weighted Linear Assignment Method (WLAM). The results indicated that the AHP, SAW, and ELECTRE rankings do not differ significantly, however, the WLAM tends to exhibit more disagreement. However, because of the limited nature of this study, we do not suggest this as a general conclusion.
The automotive industry is one of the largest polluters, affecting air quality in urban areas. For this reason, the effect of the public policies on the sector is very important in economic and social terms. In this sense, one of the policies has been the subsidies for efficient vehicles where the plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) are included. Subsidies are very important for some of these vehicles, with a real price which is not competitive in comparison with internal combustion (IC) cars. As an example, the sales have dropped in Denmark in 2016 after the incentive reduction. However, in some cases, policies designed to regulate the situation can create some perverse effects due to the complexity of this issue. This type of vehicle is powered by an IC engine in combination with one or more electric motors using energy stored in battery packs. The real efficiency of this kind of vehicle depends strongly on the responsibility of the owner. Only if the car has been plugged in, their batteries have been fully charged and also the car is driven under "efficient mode", the emissions will reduce significantly.Considering the fuel consumption gap between manufacturer declaration and real drive test and the emissions in different pollutants of the PHEVs in comparison with IC cars, the aim of this article is to show a new possible perverse effect generated by them. This has happened recently with diesel cars, favoured by policies focused in CO 2 emission, generating NO x high level in the urban area air quality. Finally, we highlight the main result and conclude emission cost implemented in fuel tax as 'the first best' in environmental policies.
In this paper we present preliminary research on how information (or entropy) based measures can be used by a decision maker (DM) using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to assess judgment accuracy, and to decide when to stop the process of pairwise comparisons. We introduce some information indices, and illustrate their use in the Analytic Hierarchy Process by means of some examples. Furthermore, we research the issue of how to measure the information content of redundant judgments, and investigate the relationship between information and degree of redundancy through the use of simulated judgments.
(QualiJcation of Unqualijied Data and the Documentation of Rationale for Accepted Data). The corroboration method (as defined in Attachment 2 of AP-SIII.2Q) was implemented to qual@ water-level data h m Nye County measurements obtained directly from the Nye County Nuclear Waste Repository Program Office (NWO).Comparison of United States Geological Survey (USGS) measurements contained in DTN GS9906083 123 12.003 with the Nye County water-level data has shown that the differences in water-level altitudes for the same wells are significantly less than 1 meter. This is an acceptable finding.Evaluation and recommendation criteria have been strictly applied to qualify Nye County measurements of water levels in selected wells measured by the USGS. However, the process of qualifying measured results by comboration also builds confidence that the Nye County method for measurement of water levels is adequate for the intended use of the data (which is regional modeling). Therefore, it is reasonable to extend the term of "qualified" to water-level measurements in the remaining Nye County Phase I wells on the basis that the method has been shown to produce adequate results for the intended purpose of supporting large-scale modeling activities for the Yucca Mountain Project OIMP).The Data Qualification Team recommends the Nye Comty, water-level data contained in Appendix D of this report be designated as "qualified." These data document manual measurements of water-levels in eight (8) EWDP Phase I drillholes (NC-EWDP-ID, NC-9S, and NC-EWDP-Washburn-lx) that were obtained prior to the field installation of continuous monitoring equipment.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
