Tomando como punto de partida una etnografía realizada entre 2015 y 2016, este artículo ofrece una descripción de los elementos que componen el escenario de las manifestaciones artísticas y culturales de una comunidad afrodescendiente en el municipio de Girardota, Antioquia. Por este camino, llegamos a la conclusión de que hay un lazo indisociable entre la participación de la comunidad en escenarios políticos y de organización comunitaria, y el carácter étnico que se atribuye a sus manifestaciones artísticas y culturales. Aquí privilegiamos un enfoque que entiende dichas manifestaciones como un vehículo para acceder a reflexiones históricas, sociales y políticas, exponiendo cómo, tras la Constitución de 1991 y con la implementación del discurso del multiculturalismo en Colombia, la población de ascendencia africana reformula su identidad étnica para establecer un vínculo diferencial con su historia esclava y servil.
A partir de una aproximación etnográfica, el presente artículo esboza algunas transformaciones que se dieron como consecuencia de la promulgación de la Constitución de 1991 entre las comunidades negras en Colombia, incidiendo en las formas de relación entre el Estado y la población afrodescendiente. Se da especial atención al caso de la comunidad de la vereda San Andrés en el municipio de Girardota, Antioquia, donde ocurrieron significativos cambios en los ámbitos organizativos y de participación, como consecuencia de la apropiación del discurso del multiculturalismo. Este estudio explora la dimensión política del arte y la cultura, evidente en la dinamización de las actividades artísticas de dicha comunidad gracias a las significativas transformaciones políticas locales, a partir de la incorporación de un discurso étnico que está fundamentalmente sustentado en expresiones propias del grupo en cuestión, tales como la música, la danza y el sainete. De esta forma, se busca contribuir a un conocimiento más amplio de lo político en ámbitos interétnicos, así como sobre el papel clave que desempeñan lo artístico y lo cultural en dichos escenarios.
En Colombia, las personas oriundas del departamento de Antioquia y de la región denominada “Eje Cafetero”, son conocidas en el país por el apelativo coloquial dado a sus habitantes: paisas. Este trabajo describe las formas en que se ha presentado la idea de lo paisa en textos académicos e investigaciones producidos durante las últimas dos décadas en la región, buscando enunciar los elementos, discursos y repertorios que se le atribuyen y que actualmente conforman ese relato de lo que se conoce como paisa. Además de identificar dichos aspectos, cuestionamos las implicaciones de estas representaciones producidas y reproducidas por la academia y sus impactos en ámbitos políticos, económicos y sociales, estableciendo distinciones y jerarquías entre algunas regiones que componen la nación.
<p>El objetivo del presente escrito es ofrecer una reflexión sobre las manifestaciones artísticas de una comunidad afrodescendiente en el departamento colombiano de Antioquia. A partir de un trabajo de campo interdisciplinar, exploramos con especial atención la música de cuerda pulsada que ha permitido visibilizar en el ámbito regional, nacional e internacional, a intérpretes y compositores de esta comunidad. La contribución de la investigación consignada en este texto es explorar el papel preponderante de estas manifestaciones en la afirmación étnica del grupo, donde a diferencia de otras poblaciones afro del continente, no existe una tradición musical de percusión. Esta investigación concluye que el grupo estudiado afirma su identidad a partir de la interpretación de música y otras prácticas que son asociadas a un origen ibérico, pero que en el contexto local han sido apropiadas e incorporadas como parte de su legado y tradiciones, tal como ocurre entre otros pocos grupos del país.</p>
