O vírus do HIV surgiu na década de 80 no Brasil, sendo considerado um problema de saúde pública. Os pacientes acabam sofrendo discriminação, preconceito e até injustiça social. Quando se instala no corpo, ele ataca o sistema imunológico provocando um declínio gradual da imunidade, o que provoca os primeiros achados clínicos da doença, aparecendo através das manifestações orais, como: Candidíase, Herpes, sarcoma de Kaposi, Leucoplasia, etc. Portanto o trabalho irá enfatizar o conhecimento e o comportamento da assistência odontológica de pacientes soropositivos. A referência estuda são de 1988 a 2021. Conclui – se que o cirurgião-dentista é responsável por identificar e diagnosticar os primeiros sinais da doença, a fim de estabelecer o tratamento para esse grupo de pacientes.
A trissomia do cromossomo 21 provoca alterações físicas, motoras e psicológicas em seus portadores. Com a baixa das habilidades cognitivas e a redução da coordenação motora, os problemas orais acabam surgindo. Além disso, o número de profissionais (odontológicos e cuidadores) qualificados e/ou especializados no tratamento são baixíssimos. Por meio de revisão de literatura, este estudo aborda os detalhes relacionados à higiene bucal de pacientes com síndrome de Down, auxilia e visa melhorar a qualidade de vida desses pacientes.
O objetivo deste trabalho e avaliar e entender os tipos de fraturas, tratamentos mais adequados para os traumas mais frequente como se da à recuperação pós-cirúrgica. A mandíbula é vulnerável a diferentes tipos de lesões no esqueleto Maxilofacial por ser um osso móvel situado na parte inferior da face que está ligada ao crânio pela articulação temporomandibular. O tipo de lesão depende diretamente da força, direção e localização do golpe, golpes de alta intensidade normalmente são fraturas no ponto do impacto atingido, já a de golpes de baixa intensidade estão relacionadas ao ponto ou colo do lado oposto. Uma fratura mandibular pode envolver um ou vários outros locais anatômicos. Tratando das fraturas mandibulares podemos perceber que existem diferentes fatores etiológicos, como acidentes automotivos, agressões, quedas, ferimentos de arma de fogo, acidentes esportivos, acidentes de trabalho e fraturas originadas de patologias ou doenças sistêmicas. O diagnóstico das fraturas se baseia no histórico ocorrido do paciente, circunstância, direção da força, condição sistêmica e idade. Para escolher o tratamento adequado e definitivo é importante levar em consideração a localização, o tipo da fratura, presença ou ausência de peças dentarias fatores musculares e condições do paciente. De acordo com o padrão de fraturas elas podem ser: simples, compostas, galhos verdes, cominutivas, complexas, impactadas, indiretas e patológicas. O método de tratamento depende de vários fatores, grau de deslocamento, perda de tecido mole ou duro, condições dos dentes remanescentes, tipo de fratura, localização e condições do paciente. Os métodos mais comuns utilizados para a fixação são como: amarias com fios de aço ou barras de Erich rígidas ou semi-rígidas, na fixação interna o mais comum é com placas rígidas ou míni placas.
As lacunas entre os dentes anteriores são muito comuns e pode causar sorrisos desarmônicos, o que pode ser um fator que afeta a estética do paciente. Este trabalho tem como objetivo realizar uma revisão da literatura sobre o fechamento do espaço interdental, onde a escolha da confecção de facetas de resina composta sabe que existem diversas técnicas e matérias restauradoras, aliadas aos adesivos diretos e é uma excelente opção para realizar o fechamento interdental, pois além de proporcionar melhorias no menor tempo de execução, também consegue manter a estrutura do dente sem a necessidade de degaste dentário, portando deixando assim o resultado final com mais naturalidade. O estudo tem como objetivo analisar o melhor tratamento e o material mais adequado para o fechamento de diastemas, este estudo é descritivo, com método de revisão compreensiva.
A Parestesia do Nervo Alveolar Inferior tem como uma das causas, algum possível dano ao NAI ao realizar uma cirurgia de exodontia de terceiros molares inferiores, sendo essa uma das causas, abordar e discutir sobre este tema é de extrema importância para o conhecimento e menor ocorrência de lesão iatrogênica do Cirurgião Dentista ao NAI. A presente revisão de literatura visa abordar o conhecimento anatômicos do NAI em relação a cavidade oral e aos dentes que serão extraídos, fatores que podem ocasionar, como prevenir e a terapêutica caso ela ocorra.
