Analisa as narrativas dos participantes no processo formativo envolvendo escola e comunidade na Escola do Campo Margarete Cruz Pereira em Roda D'água. Tal premissa evidencia a importância da memória como elemento central do resgate da identidade dos sujeitos que vivenciam a Educação do Campo. Compreendemos que se faz necessário nesta análise nos debruçarmos não só na importância do resgate da memória dos sujeitos, mas no processo de fortalecimento da História e memória da luta em nome do direito a educação e da vida dos sujeitos campesinos do campo e da cidade. A metodologia fundamenta-se na pesquisa participativa defendida por Brandão (2006), a partir de rodas de conversa baseado em Freire (1987), tendo como aporte a história oral, por meio das narrativas produzidas pelos sujeitos envolvidos no processo formativo. Destaca-se a valorização das memórias e dos saberes na Educação do Campo.
Este artigo discute as contribuições da história e memória no processo de educação não formal, por meio da manifestação cultural do Congo do Espírito Santo, patrimônio cultural imaterial. A memória é elemento constituinte do sentimento de identidade, tanto individual ou coletiva, sendo este fator determinante no pertencimento de uma pessoa ou de um grupo. As festas de Congo enquanto patrimônio imaterial promovem a identidade dos integrantes e fortalece as relações sociais em que compartilham valores e trocas simbólicas, adquirindo significados individuais e se unem coletivamente, resolvendo por meio dos festejos num plano simbólico as contradições da vida social aparentemente inconciliável no plano político. O Congo é um espaço de resistência, rico, que abre possibilidades de uma educação voltada para a preservação, conservação e valorização cultural reconhecendo a produção de conhecimento existente neste espaço e de divulgação do conhecimento histórico produzido nestes grupos e comunidades.
