The objective was to evaluate the production, chemical composition and hygienic -sanitary parameters of the milk of Murrah buffaloes raised in the northeastern semi-arid region. Data from 13,752 observations of lactations collected from the years of 2013 to 2016 from a herd in Rio Grande do Norte were used. The milk quality through chemical composition (contents of fat, protein, lactose, and total solids), somatic cell counts (CCS), and milk production was evaluated. Data were submitted to Pearson correlation, factorial analysis, multivariate analysis of variance per year, and per period (dry, rainy and transition) and canonical discriminant analysis by year and period. A high and positive correlation was observed for total solids and fat (0.91) and positive correlation for protein and total solids, yield, and lactose. Through factor analysis, four factors were selected that explained 88% of the total variation. The first factor was considered "milk quality factor, " the second factor as "milk production factor," and the third factor as " sanity factor." There was significant effect based on year but not significant effect based on period for the studied variables. In the canonical discriminant analysis per year, the discriminant power variables were (CCS), milk production and total solids. For periods were protein, production, lactose, fat, and total solids. Multivariate analysis was efficient in evaluating the production and chemical composition of buffalo milk and can be safely used in future studies.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of replacement of corn with pre-dried cassava root silage (CRS) on intake, ingestive behavior, production and composition of goat milk. Five lactating Saanen goats were used, with 42.5 ± 4.2 kg body weight and production of 2 kg milk day-1, distributed in a 5 x 5 Latin square with five treatments: 0, 28.6, 58.0, 81.6 and 100% replacement of corn with CRS in the diet dry matter. Goats were monitored for five periods of 15 days each. The intake of dry matter, crude protein and neutral detergent fiber decreased linearly (p <0.05) with the replacement of corn with CRS. Feeding (348.5 ± 62.1 min.) and rumination (468.8 ± 83.8 min.) times were not influenced (p >0.05) by the replacement of corn with CRS, but the ingestion and rumination efficiencies had a linear increase (p > 0.05). Milk production (2.17 ± 0.45 kg day-1), fat (3.49 ± 0.42%), protein (3.11 ± 0.13%) and lactose (4.47 ± 0,11%) of goat milk were not influenced (p >0.05) by the replacement of corn with CRS. Therefore, it is recommended the total replacement of corn with pre-dried cassava root silage in the diet for dairy goats with an average production of 2 kg day-1.
The objective of this work was to evaluate several attempts to knock down neats and to correlate the success obtained with actions performed by the horse/rider sets through an analysis of public domain videos of vaquejadas. Approximately 300 videos were considered, and the groups were evaluated according to the competition category, that is, amateur/aspirant and professional, and the animals used in the test, that is, pulling or tracking of the neat. It was found that for the pull set in the professional competition category, only the characteristics of directing the cow on the track, and the guiding behavior and positioning in the pull were significant (p<0.01), while for the amateur/aspirant category, the characteristics of remaining in the pull after falling of the cattle and of the behavior at the gate had an effect (p<0.01). The characteristic of remaining in the pull after the fall of the neats, in the category of professional pulling athletes, exists in greater prevalence during the competition with 85.3%, while the characteristic of directing the neat to the side of the track is performed by 87.6% of the competitors. For the set used to track the cattle, the values of the dimensions 1 and 2 were 96.56% and 3.43%, respectively, which is 99.9% of the total variance of the data based on those selected for the final result of “earn the ox”. The use of multiple diversity analysis in this study of variables associated with the vaquejada set proved to be quite advantageous, and there was not much variation in the elements obtained with a greater weight in the determination of the final result.
