As características de reprodução relativamente têm baixa ou média herdabilidade e não exibem uma resposta notável à seleção fenotípica. Portanto, a inclusão de informações genéticas dos genes associados à capacidade reprodutiva pode melhorar eficientemente a resposta de seleção.
