Year-round PoultrY litter decomPosition and n, P, K and ca release summarY Poultry litter is an important nutrient source in agriculture, although little information is available regarding its decomposition rate and nutrient release. to evaluate these processes, poultry litter (Pl) was applied to the soil to supply 100, 200 and 300 kg ha -1 n contained in 4,953, 9,907 and 14,860 kg ha -1 Pl, respectively. the litter bag technique was used to monitor the process of decomposition and nutrient release from the litter. these bags were left on the soil surface and collected periodically (after 15, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210, 240, 270, 300, 330, and 365 days). the dry matter (dm) loss was highest (35 %) after the first 30 days of field incubation. the highest nutrient release occurred in the first 60 days on the field, when 40, 34, 91, and 39 %, respectively, of n, P, K, and ca of the initial Pl dry matter (4,860 kg ha -1 ) was already released to the soil. in absolute terms, these percentages represent 40, 23, 134, and 69 kg ha -1 of n, P, K, and ca and these values doubled and tripled as the Pl fertilization rates increased to 9,907 and 14,860 kg ha -1 , respectively. after one year of field incubation, the residual contents in the litter were 27, 15, 18 and 30 % of the initial dm , and n, P and ca, respectively. the release rate of K was the fastest and 91 % of the K had been released from the Pl after 30 days of field incubation. index terms: litter bag, filed incubation, organic fertilizer, residual contents.
Palavras-chave: composição química, matéria seca, sistema silvipastoril, sombreamento Performance of hibernal forages under distinct brightness levelsABSTRACT -Possible effects of brightness restriction, obtained by different Pinnus taeda tree densities, on the production and quality of black oat (Avena strigosa Schreb) cv. Common, white oat (Avena sativa L.) cv. FAPA 2, annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum L.) cv. Common, hairy vetch (Vicia villosa), wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cv. dual purpose BRS Tarumã were studied. It was evaluated three brightness levels: 1 -full sunlight with no trees; 2 -30% of radiation restriction, using 15 × 3 m spacing between trees (222 trees/ha), and; 3 -60% of radiation restriction, using 9 × 3 m between trees (370 trees/ha). It was performed evaluations of forage production, chemical composition and structural component of plants, water potential of the plants, soil moisture, microclimate variables and production of needles. The experimental design was completely randomized blocks, in split-plots and three replicates. Ryegrass was the most productive species at all brightness levels, although hairy vetch showed the lowest reduction on production under shading. There was higher water potential in the plants and higher soil moisture under shading, however, forage production was significantly reduced in the most intense shading (81%). Chemical composition and structural components of all studied forage species are also affected by brightness restriction increase.
Palavras-chave: qualidade de semeadura, semeadura direta, cobertura do solo Management of cover vegetation and speed of operation on conditions of sowing and corn yield ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate quality parameters of sowing and the development and yield of maize sown in no tillage system under different vegetation managements and operating speeds of the seeder in the southwest region of the S tate of Paraná. A split-plot design was used, where the plots were the vegetation management of the oat (oat latticed, rolled, chopped and desiccated) and split plot the operation speeds (4.5 and 7.0 km h -1 ), in a randomized block design with four replications. The spacing between plants, uniformity distribution of seed, sowing depth, rate of emergence, plant stand, soil area mobilized and yield of the crop were evaluated. The tabulated data were analysed by F test at 0.05 level of probability and in case of significance, the means were compared by Tukey test at 0.05 probability level. It was concluded that the best seed distribution was observed at lower speed and the mean productivity of the crop was not affected by treatments. The management of vegetation was not effective in improving conditions for sowing.
from the crude extract (EB) dilution, composed of distilled water + pine needles in vegetative stage (green needles), moderately decomposed (dry needles) and in advanced decomposition (decomposed needles). The germination percentage, average speed of germination, the length of the primary roots and the length from the seedlings roots of INTRODUÇÃOAlguns vegetais liberam produtos do seu metabolismo secundário que podem impedir ou estimular a germinação e/ou o desenvolvimento de outras plantas relativamente próximas, caracterizando um processo alelopático (SOARES, 2000).
-The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different doses of liquid swine slurry on dry matter accumulation rate and nutritive values (crude proten and neutral detergent fiber) of Tifton 85 grass pasture cultivated in southwestern Paraná from October 2005 to March 2006. It was used a complete random experimental design in a 4 × 4 factorial scheme composed of four doses of swine slurry in the plots (0, 80, 160 and 320 m 3 /ha) and four consecutive cuts in the subplots of the pasture. It was carried out two applications, one in the beginning of the experiment and other after 80 days. Cuts were performed every time pasture height was 40 cm. There was a dose versus cut interaction for all variables. Swine slurry promoted increase on dry matter accumulation rate only on the first cut after its application (cuts 1 and 3). Dry matter maximal yield (24.2 t/ha) was obtained at 249 m 3 /ha of swine slurry manure (143 and 106 m 3 /ha, respectively for applications 1 and 2), corresponding to 450 kg of N/ha. Percentage of crude protein increases and neutral detergent fiber of Tifton 85 grass decreases as dose of swine slurry increases, improving forage nutritive value. Use efficiency and nitrogen recovery rate decrease with addition of swine slurry doses.
ABSTRACT. The heavy traffic of machines in no-tillage systems causes problems as soil compaction and loss of crops productivity. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the productivity of soybeans in reference to furrow openers and the levels of soil compaction in two crops. The experiment was conducted on Rhodic Hapludox by tracing random blocks with subdivided parcels. The soil bulk density levels were laid out in the parcels (1.16, 1.20, 1.22, and 1.26 Mg m -3) and the furrowers in the sub-parcels (double disc and shanks). The resistance to penetration, depth of the furrow, mobilized soil area, final plant stands, height of plants, mean number of beans by pod, 1,000 bean mass, number of pods per plant and productivity of the culture were evaluated. The resistance to penetration increased with the levels of soil compaction regardless of the farming year and up to a depth of 0.20 m. In the first crop, higher productivity with the use of the shank was observed. In the second crop, the use of the shank resulted in an increase in depth of the furrow, mobilized soil, height of the plants and final stand of the plants, but this did not indicate an increase in productivity.
