Este artigo apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa qualitativa de natureza fenomenológica que objetivou compreender a experiência de profissionais no atendimento a mulheres em situação de violência em um Centro de Referência Especializado de Assistência Social (CREAS). Foram realizados encontros dialógicos individuais com duas psicólogas e quatro assistentes sociais. Após cada encontro, a pesquisadora redigiu uma narrativa compreensiva e em seguida, elaborou uma narrativa síntese contendo os seguintes elementos significativos da experiência como um todo: (1) as participantes percebem que alguns profissionais da rede de atenção à mulher reproduzem atitudes preconceituosas que contribuem para a vitimização das usuárias; (2) em função de não se sentirem protagonistas na tomada de decisão por parte da instituição, sentem-se frustradas e impotentes; (3) elas desenvolvem atitudes de empatia e identificam-se com as histórias vividas pelas usuárias e (4) nos atendimentos às mulheres, sentem-se solitárias em função da rede de assistência não se mostrar efetiva na prática; ainda assim valorizam o trabalho que desenvolvem. Ressalta-se a importância de pesquisas que integrem dados sobre a experiência de profissionais, usuárias e dos autores de violência, nas instituições que compõem a rede de assistência à mulher possibilitando a superação dos problemas apontados e o aperfeiçoamento das políticas públicas.
