In recent years, advancements on improving the mechanical and tribological properties of polyimide nanocomposites have remarkably increased, owing to the fact that polyimide nanocomposites exhibits lightweight, high strength, thermal stability as well as anti-wear and solvent resistance. The polyimide nanocomposites are described as material of polyimide matrix reinforced with certain volume or weight percent concentration of nanofillers. Researchers have demonstrated the importance of thermoplastic polyimide nanocomposites in mechanical, thermal, and tribological applications. However, the nanocomposites are reportedly facing interfacial adhesion issues and surface properties degradation, which have affected their mechanical, friction, and abrasive wear resistance for tribological applications. Although, much advancements on improving the mechanical, thermal, and wear resistance properties of polyimide nanocomposites has been reported. However, this review summarizes the effects of nanofillers, such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs), graphene (GN), graphene oxide (GO), boron nitride (BN), molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), silica (SiO2), titania (TiO2), alumina (Al2O3), carbon fibres (CF), aramid fibre (AF), glass fibre (GF), zinc dioxide (ZnO2), zirconium dioxide (ZrO2), silicon nitride (Si2N4), and carbon nitride (C3N4) on the mechanical, thermal, and wear properties of polyimide nanocomposites for tribological applications. The authors concluded the review study with advancement, challenges and suggestions for future improvement of polyimide nanocomposites as friction component material. Thus, the review offers an insight into the improvement and selection of polyimide nanocomposites material for mechanical, thermal, and tribological applications. More so, the review will also give away for further research.

The increasing manufacturing technologies is a crucial aspect of industrialization. Laser additive manufacturing is the process of manufacturing using laser (heat) technology to manufacture component from scratch and or strengthening and modi cation of surfaces that are subject to abrasion. The combination of both Chromium Carbide (CrC) and Vanadium Carbide reinforced iron based hard facings have gotten progressively signi cant in enhancing the corrosion and wear resistance of tool subject to adverse abrasive and impact conditions. This study investigates the effect of vanadium-chromium carbide on the microstructure of the clad with respect to its laser processing parameters.

This study explored the synthesis of activated carbon from olive seeds by chemical and thermal activation, and evaluated the energy efficiency of the process. The oilseed samples were carbonized at varying temperature (600-840 °C). The produced activated carbons were used for dye removal, studying the effect of temperature. The materials were analyzed using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The pores and interpore spacing porous of the activated carbons were identified from the SEM images using ImageJ software. The results show that the yield of activated carbon and energy efficiency significantly decreased with increasing carbonization temperature. This reveals that a higher yield of activated carbon and higher energy efficiency was attained at lower carbonization temperature, meaning that producing activated carbon from olive seed is cost effective. Moreover, the activated carbon obtained at 600 °C exhibits the optimum removal efficiency for methylene blue, however, the increase in the removal efficiency upon increasing the temperature from 600 to 720 °C is insignificant (about 1%).
